AA still makes a big difference at 3440x1440... Surely you've noticed the same on your 2560x1440?
Or were you talking about 4K?
im referring to ultrawide 1440p sorry. Im saying its a weird leap from a GTX 1080 and Titan depending on how many frames you need for say a 100Hz LCD with g-sync.
Maybe the 1080 is enough. Im not sure.
wow average looks like its 25 - 30% better at 4k res, still dunno if its worth the price we've paid (aka our souls) for the difference in performance
My opinion from using 3440x1440 for 6 months is that you absolutely need AA & that 1 1080 is definitely not powerful enough unless you want to be turning a lot of things down...
That review didn't actually have all the settings maxed in a number of games and also it depends which bit is benched. eg. the inbuilt benchmark in Rise of the Tomb Raider has very little bearing on how playable the game will be... you can score 70FPS on the bench and then head out into on the 2 largest areas in the game and be sitting on about 35FPS..
The GTX 1070 was forwarded to a local courier yesterday for delivery, but they didn't come today. Sad face...
ah ok rightio. Cool. I keep forgetting that most UW LCD are 34" not 27"
I don't think we're talking same size monitor? 1440 high on a 27" vs 1440 high on a 34" (granted ultrawide) would have different pixel densities wouldn't they? Being the 27" is likely to have a larger pixel per inch and make jaggies less noticeable?
yeah it will have different ppi. my dell u2711 is very sharp and clear. I however get very good frames at 2560x1440p in tomb raider completely maxed. I never seen it under 60.
A 34" Ultrawide has pretty much the same pixel density as a 1440p 27" - 0.02325 vs 0.0233
whats the Physical height of your x34? compared to the Dell u2711? must be almost the same or slightly less?
I got maxed out vram and fps of 55 in some parts with a 980ti
I find different games respond differently to sub 60fps regardless of gsync, GTA5 @50fps felt terrible and laggy, with tomb raider i could only tell it was sub 60 by looking at the fps counter
i think Tomb raider has a VRAM bug honestly. It uses so so much. In the benchmark it used all 8GB on the 1080. I didnt notice performance issues though. I dont have GTA 5...
Awesome thanks for the link Much better tracking info.
Yeah at that increase at 4K is substantial, but the price tho....
i guess we are at the point now where we have a GPU that can pretty much do 4k on a single die. Now the focus for AMD and NV is to make it accessible to the masses
Can all you Pascal owners start abusing 3Dmark and get some scores up? 3D11 and Timespy please
Or they can actually play games and enjoy their GPUs instead of wasting time.
