basically this, i did it ages ago and it basically just says your PC can handle VR.
Odd... Fans on my 1080 G1 gaming decided to not spin. Discovered this when trying to play in VR, and it was running at about 1fps, took VR off, checked utility, card at 85 degrees and climbing, look in case, fans not moving...
I'm having one of those weeks...
Classic gigabyte product
until you play Raw Data and crank the SuperSampling to 2x then the game demolish Titan without problems
but yes most games run fine even on 1080, problem is they all look like VR demo as well, Raw Data being the first one that sorta feels like "AAA VR game", altho I haven't played anything in VR for nearly 3 months (good advise don't cut tendons in finger ) so not keeping up the the latest releases atm
I had 980Ti G1 Gaming, similar thing 1 from the 3 fans would spin @ 100% RPM while idling in Windows randomly, had to go back to MSY and get new card.
I bought a new video card from MSY (Port Adelaide store), for my dad (couple of years ago), we got home, and one of the fan blades was broken, so it unbalanced and horribad, took it straight back to the shop "you bought it, you BROKE it", er no, it was broken when I got it home, "NO, YOU BROKE IT".
No replacement given, no longer shop at MSY.
I 'fixed' the problem by snapping off a blade on the opposite side of the fan, but I was spewing that we had such a bad consumer experience.
So I'm surprised to read that they honoured warranty in your case.
damn that's not good to hear
have u tried the bios fix?
MSY got shit on hard a few times by the ACCC for being dodgy and misleading with consumer rights in regards to warranty.
They're a bit better now...
That sucks, I just read this recently:
Can the ACCC tell MSY to answer their phone too?
Whelp so much for picking parts from MSY this weekend.
Follow your wallet son, MSY wins on most things.
Im hoping mwave will get my cpu rma done quickly ... or it will be a low fps christmas break for me ...
I don't mind paying extra knowing that I'll be looked after, ie. service. I only went to MSI once on a very last minute requirement when old arse Socket 775 rig died, and had to build a temp i5/GTX970 rig to get me by.
scorptec have MSI 1070 for $499 limited time only
That's a good price
*Holding thumbs for the $699 GTX1080*
Bios fix? First I've heard of it - all the Googling I did overnight basically was about people talking about the fan not kicking in until about 60ºC, except, I was well above 80ºC, so obviously that wasn't the issue. Could not get them to spin even after messing with the Gigabyte controller software.
It was working fine a few days back. Very odd... It's in it's box now, so will take back to shop for a replacement anyway.
Plugging my old GTX970 back in saw the fans on that working fine.
Oddly enough, I've seen the MSY across the street replace mobos and other items that were screwed up by the customer as a warranty job.
BWAHAHAHAH! Os, so this...
Heh, that's their fault. They should be charging for those, and honoring the ones that have a valid case for replacing DOA items.
Edit: $200K is not a cheap lesson for bad business practice in a very competitive market.
Yeah might as well considering its so new.
There is a bios update on the gigabyte website but I didn't do mess with it. I think Gigabyte themselves suggest not worrying unless there is something weird with the hardware.
considering they spend no $ on paying decent staff who understand hygiene or spend any money on cleaning stores and never make outgoing phone calls, I think they make enough savings to counter these fines.
