Yeah the strix. I figured as much when the 6 fans kick in it might get crazy!

I suspect its heat is far more than the 1070 i have :) i dont really recall hearing mine spin all that often. My system fans are louder.

I grabbed the MSI GTX1080ti Seahawk from Scorptec.
Honestly works out a little dearer than Newegg, but not by much and you get local warranty.

I don't know why no local stores have the eVGA GTX1080ti Hybrid though.

    Ok add it up.
$1069 ex GST (Newegg listed price).
    $1175.90 in GST

    Then shipping: $1223.21

    Scorptec shipped: $1,360.00

    $136.79 difference

Water makes a big difference in stabilising clocks, shunt mod helps alot too.

Yes it does. I bought multiple GPU's from Newegg, no issues what so ever. GST is added during the checkout, if your item is below $999, you will only pay item + shipping, if you add item with value over $1000, you newegg will automatically charge you the GST.

and yes, its not item + shipping that needs to be under 1000$. It's item itself. This means if your item is $999 + $50 shipping, you won't get charged GST on it.

Scorptech and PCCG used to sell them, but the numbers were so low, even with pre-order I ended up waiting for weeks to get my hand on 980Ti Hybrid.

Evga seems to manufacture low numbers of these (which is annoying), guess local stores can't be bothered with low stock and late deliveries of these units, and by the looks of it, MSI/gigabyte have no problems with these Hybrids. Evga really need to improve their game with Hybrids, it's terrible.

bit of a PSA, the Zotac Ti copped an absolute pasting on GN due to a shitty thermal solution. So lazy.

I miss my 3 x Zotac GTX 260s... they had dragons on them. That immediately made them better

One died, a friend has another, and I'm not quite sure where the 3rd got to...

On the negative side my Zotac 9800 GT died yet my much older Leadtek 8800 GTX still chugs along fine.

It's quite an accomplishment in a bad sense to make such a massive cooler yet get such terrible cooling performance.

according to GN its running even worse than MSI 1080ti armor edition, which has beefier 1070 cooler on it, and considered the worse AIB 1080Ti (until now), that is indeed quite and accomplishment indeed
