    What is DSR?

1080p extreme preset for giggles. I am assuming lots of cpu bottlenecking..

4k optimized (optimised). I did not expect this to even run.

4k optimised shaders seems to make a hell of a difference.
I reran the 1080p extreme preset but changed the shaders from extreme to 4k optimised and it went up to:

    :wired: no idea why.

Thanks shmity. What cpu you are running?

I worked out what dsr was, but doesn't seem to need it for running 4k for some reason. I'll give it a play later when I find some spare time.

From initial results it looks like the 2009 issue cpu won't hold me back for a while.. Mrs will be very happy as I was going to upgrade the rest next year..

Ryzen 1700X, all the tests were done at 3.9, slightly faster than yours but the test is only single threaded and clearly GPU focused so im not sure how much of a cpu bottle neck there was.

well i can see people would screaming to get GTX950's according to that list.:confused: i'm actually surprised they didn't put any of the titans on there.

i actually spent close to 4 grand for water cooled titan XP's last august. as you said each to their own

Just purchased an MSI 1080 Ti Gaming X card, I've noticed that it runs extremely hot, around 80-85 degrees C when gaming, is this normal?

My previous Gigabyte 1080 G1 I'm fairly sure ran a lot cooler and quieter...

My case is an NZXT Manta

Went ahead and pulled the trigger on an EVGA 1080ti SC2 and an Asus PG279Q. Also go the EVGA "Powerlink" which is a bracket thingy that moves the power cable to the video card from the front to the side... looks very neat.

Hyo take the side panel off and if your temps drop you have shit case airflow.

Just tried taking the side panel off, same results, around 82 degrees playing PUBG.

Don't really have any recourse with the NZXT Manta though, can't fit anymore fans inside the case.

I swear I remember my Gigabyte 1080 hovering around 65~ when under the same load.

the 1080Ti does look much larger and sit much closer to the bottom though.

Reviews say the MSI 1080 Ti Gaming X only ever hitting a max of 69 degrees C which makes mine look defective (maybe improper application of thermal paste)

    Hmm yeh it's capped at 84 C.

On MSI afterburner, the Temp.Limit seems to be set to 84 as well...

My clock speeds are about 1898Mhz, why is this so much higher than the advertised default and boosted clock speeds on the MSI website?

    Currently idling at 39'C
