Interesting. Will be great if it stays that way. I have a feeling a bunch of us will be grabbing some NVidias if they do allow it.

Woot, will try this tonight... was in 2 minds of selling the gtx260+ but if i can use it for Physx I'll keep it.

It must be a bug, so i'll grab it while the going gets good.. if its not maybe nVidia realised they need all the sales they can get :p and if people upgraded to ati they may now buy an nvidia :p

EDIT: I know i could have used with hacked drivers but i hate mucking about and i change drivers on a regular basis.. anyways will see tonight :p

Just tested and confirmed this does indeed work. I've got a 9800GT with my 5970 working a treat. Not too sure on the performance of these though, seemed to take a massive hit from the 197.25 drivers modded by side...

wow I was actually ripping Nvidia in a thread about this yesterday. That is a great move if Nvidia actually did that on purpose.

    Frag,

If you check the nvidia drivers, they have changed the driver layout somewhat. Under "3d settings" --> "manage 3d settings" there will be an option called "CUDA-GPU'S". It'll prob be set to all, but if you drop it down you will see that your card is in there. Just use a game to test it with, or fluidmark.

    Regards, Rob

Really wish I'd spent the extra money on a board with more than 1 PCIe16x slot. Have no interest in crossfire but would love to put my old 8800gt to some use instead of sitting in a box.

Yeah saw that, and can see the card there just i dont seem to have any ability to enable Physx. I haven't done my reading on this before, as i dont play any physx games.

I used fluidmark and it just uses my cpu ;( oh well must be doing something wrong i'll work it out.

EDIT: Worked it out (well, read up on it :p)

Those of us trying this first time, make sure you set up a fake display (or a real one) for the nvidia card and extend the desktop. I did this and all was sweet, will try batman when it redownloads morrow but fluidmark worked perfect.

Great news for people not bothering with hacked drivers etc, i still think this is an oversight when they were trying to rush the driver out for Fermi performance :/

Well this is good news if it was intentional. Ive got my old 9800GT laying around that i could put in my rig. Might do that today. Do i just put the card in and install the nvidia drivers? Ive never looked into it :p

That was dispelled a long time ago, just plug a DVI-VGA dongle into the DVI port.

Yeah pretty much knew it. Oh well, i'll use this driver... after reading lots on it before its actually pretty easy to do and best of all you can update your main driver as always without having to go through any hassels like i previously thought. Oh well, only physx game i have is Batman anayway, may just go back and play it

    Guru3d mate

.. Oh well it reminds me why i hate nvidia so much now and won't buy their products until they change their tune. Nvidia is right up there with Apple :p
