This should be great. Via's IGPs have always been pretty awful - but with Nvidia's help they should be able to come up with a decent competitor to the AMD 780G.

If Isaiah can offer similar performance to the Pentium-M at the same clock speed, that's going to hurt Intel a bit (it seems likely that the 1.8GHz Atom will perform about as fast as the 1GHz Pentium-M).

Quite a few people have been complaining about HP's use of the Via CPU and chipset in the 2133/MiniNote due to the low performance; if HP now swap that for an Nvidia IGP and an Isaiah CPU, they're going to cause serious problems for all the manufacturers using the Atom and i945GMS.

    HTPC's as well I'd assume.

    But nonetheless, budget parts!

Yes their were, it had to do with nvidia wanting an x86 licence thus some of the speculation towards a merger.

It's great for consumers, can't say much about the company that gets kicked in the guts though.

I don't think any company is really going to get "kicked in the guts" with this. AMD doesn't focus much on the super-low-power stuff, and Intel's not going to be worried about anything that Via and Nvidia can come up with.

Imagine a UMPC with nVidia integrated graphics. You might actually be able to play a 3 year old game on it! It will allow the WoW junkies a more mobile way to satisfy their addiction. :D
