    Hi Everyone,

Its look like over the Christmas quiet period we will be doing a Migration to O365 (Mixture of E1 & E3 Plans)

We currently run Symantec.cloud spam scanning for on prem exchange. We have been told that the inbuilt Anti-Spam & AV filtering on O365 is on par with Symantec.cloud.

So I've come here to find out if we are being told porkies.

    Thanks,

The advanced threat protection is *probably* on par with symantec.cloud (not having used the latter).

I also like that it can go into mailboxes after the fact, and remove messages that were later identified as dodgy.

The basic inbuilt stuff is about as useful as tits on a bull.

I needed a good chuckle this morning. Thanks for that. Although as per PE, I have heard decent things about the advanced version. We're using FireEye ETP cloud and that does a pretty good job.

So this is more availability not as just for backup purposes.
if were not concerned with added availability does O365 offer any inbuilt backup / restore functionality?
or is the Archive / Inplace hold designed for this?

There is no backup/restore in Office365. Unless you use Legal Hold on everything, once it is deleted, it is gone.

It's for backup restore purposes. But part of the veeam availability suite.

Not really sure what the purpose of your post was... OP would have to buy Veeam first.

Most of our clients don't use any additional email hygiene other than the baked in 365/EXO offerings.

Many thousand mailbox type clients, so yeah, they're definitely using Advanced Threat Detection.

Don't have much experience or feedback on the experience without that.
