OCAU/Australia OC HWBOT Team New Year Resolution Competition

In the wake of an absolutely flat out HWBOT Country Cup, Christmas and hopefully a big New Year celebration it’s time to rest, recuperate and recruit. With back to back wins of the Country Cup, the regular members will need to drive for some new blood and get them into the world of benching.

For those of you who don't know HWBOT is; www.hwbot.org is the foremost overclocking website, where individuals and teams compete in overclocking benchmarks against each other from all around the world, pushing hardware to its silicone limits.

Currently our Australia OC team is ranked 17th in the world out of 2964 and is punching well above its weight. The team is free to join and new members are welcome. Our home thread can be found here.

Once again we must thank GIGABYTE for coming on board and supplying us with some incredible hardware, that you could possibly call your own. GIGABYTE’s support of the Australian Overclock team is incredible, and we owe a lot to Dino for the support and help he has given us all as a fellow bencher, sponsor and teammate.

Points and Prizes will be as follows.

    1st Place - GIGABYTE X99 SOC CHAMPION(Sponsored by GIGABYTE)
    2nd Place – PCCG$100 Gift Voucher(privately supplied)
    3rd Place – PCCG $50 Gift Voucher(privately supplied)

There will also be an encouragement award sponsored by GIGABYTE, which will be judged by Dino and announced at the end for the most active new member of the Australia OC Team. THe prize is a 3m silk/fabric Gigabyte banner with the Team.AU guys on it. A great addition to any benching room/shed.

    1st - 25
    2nd - 18

    subbing

only thing i have that could really be classed as an "air cooler" is a kingpin gemini pots base + fan, so i hope that will suffice :Paranoid:

otherwise, i guess i could pick something up when i grab a 5450 tomorrow :)

side note, curious, did PCCG provide the vouchers or private/other?

Damn now I need to find a G3258 that isn't a dud like mine is.. the damn thing won't even run an XTU bench at 4.3 let alone 4.5.. and a HD5450..

This is a nice low budget comp  I'll be in it..

Thanks again to Gigabyte/Dino and then JD for organising this (gives Matt a rest lol).

Will edit later to make more sense, cpl of ?'s. Cooling for RAM in #1 is that open or change that to air also, not that I think it would hugely affect1m.

As for CPU that's open for 1&2 as 3/4 are clear with the PE, but open cooling for all except #1.

Sure, as long as it's Air Cooled. Got to stick to air cooling for Stage 1 I'm afraid.

Memory for Stage 1 must be air as well. OP updated.

Open CPU for stage 1 and 2. OP updated.

Open cooling unless noted as in Stage 1.

What about OS limitations? Are we excluding Windows 8/8.1 from the equation, with only XP and W7 allowable?

Might be able to have a crack at some stages.

I'll be taking part but probably just the 5450 stage because I have no plans to touch Intel until skylake and hopefully something more ivy like and not the junk haswell and possibly Broadwell are

Thanks for that JD and sorry to be a pain and ask the questions buddy. One last one related to Valley. I haven't run it myself before but have seen it on OCN a lot, but have also noticed you can select different presets etc. if i'm correct or custom runs for that matter. Just wanted to clarify that before people started putting in runs that might be "incorrect".

    Again nice work mate.

That's a really good point you've made and it's one of the reasons why heaven has a hwbot wrapper

Edit: that cooler looks like a beast

Stage 2 must be run at 'BASIC' preset.

Plus, I think the extreme one might be too hard. The 280X in my dialy runner was struggling to get 30FPS for most of it.

Cheers JD, as I mentioned I just wasn't sure and as I've never run the bench before I'm not sure what's available to run. I assume by running basic it says that in some way so there's no "messing" with it and again apologies for the questions.

Yeah it comes up at the end. Everything gets hazed out after you select the preset. If you mess with it, it comes up at the end as a Custom run. If you don't touch anything after preset it comes up as basic. Fairly easy to find a cheaterer. :p
