It's just the cabinet, doesn't sound like there's an amp or speaker in there. Good for a restoration project.
I know I'm bumping a bit. 6 and 7 string fanned fret guitars, from an Aus retailer (phone number looks like NSW to me), under Aus$500. Brand name is "Haze" which I haven't heard of before. https://kookaburramusictree.com/search?q=fanned A look through their site shows a lot of other gear under the same brand name of Haze, including a bunch of rebadged chinese effects pedals, electric, acoustic and bass guitars, beginner amps, etc. I'd say the guitars are chinese made, which isn't automatically bad (unless you have a bee in your bonnet about China/CCP in general).
guitars, bottom aren't mine re-stringing a mates 6505 head and Marshall V30 2X12 cab Rack mounted stuff
I wasn't really in looking for a fanned fret guitar just thought it was cool to see one thats affordable. I've seen Haze guitars on ebay but they just don't grab me in the looks department. The other night I did stumbled over Legator guitars who make a very nice looking multi-scale 7 string for $700-800. https://www.rakmusic.com.au/legator-n7fs-ninja-standard-7-string-multi-scale-gloss-baby-blue
*shrug* How much do Ormsby's sell for these days? (does a quick check) Never mind. I wouldn't mind an Ormsby Goliath, but right now, at that price, I'll pass. On another note (pun intended), hands up if you know about the YT channel Samuraiguitarist. The guy is Japanese family background but born and grew up in Canada. He's mentioned in some of his vids that he went to Berkeley (one of the top music schools in the US). He tends to make vids about odd things in music, such as strange effects pedals, or strange styles of music. He recently managed to combine both in the same vid, where he uses a Korg Miku pedal to play his attempt at Kawaii Metal. If you've never heard of the Miku pedal, here:
I'm planning on buying in a few months: Fender Deluxe Reverb '65 Surfybear Metal Apollo Audio Twin Apollo Audio Ox Box Strymon Zuma Fuzz and tremolo pedals are a must, although not fully decided on which ones yet. There are so many to choose from. And don't even get me started on distortion pedals. Looper will come later at some point. Strymon Bigsky reverb will come eventually though. Oh and a camera to record myself playing on YouTube.
I'm super keen on an Ormsby Metal V Dragonburst (might even try fanned frets) but will have to wait a few years I reckon. Already got 5 guitars and I don't play enough to justify more. Might have to settle for a https://reverb.com/au/item/38359818-ormsby-skate-deck-dragonburst-2021 instead
Sounds like a pretty good setup. I've given up on pedals like you said too many to choose from. I think the only things I need are a camera and a noise gate. oh and time to practice more. want to get back to being able to sweep pick again
hey guys, looking to get back into guitar, what you guys think of artist strat or tokai legacy strat vs a squire, open to anything under $700 used is fine too but i think its hard to come by with covid tax
If you're ok with second hand, Fender Mexican strats do come up every so often on gumtree for $700. That would be my first choice if you're cool with the high-end of your budget. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/peakhurst/guitars-amps/electric-guitar-mexican-fender/1268812462 I wouldn't touch squier affinity as they're pretty cheaply made guitars. Have a look at Vintage modified or Classic vibe's. They're $650ish new but come up for around $350-400 on the 2nd hand market. I own a Squier Vintage modified jaguar and its feels like a quality guitar. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Fender-...067778?hash=item46c1332f02:g:cgIAAOSwt7xgIzRs If you want to go cheaper, you can have a look at SX strats. I picked up a SX ASH2HNA Semi Hollow Stratocaster for $390 new and it was surprisingly good. Only issue with it was the saddle screws were too long and a bit sharp so had to buy some new ones so I could lower the action.
Very good advice from ndt, the only thing I would add is Yamaha Pacifica 112V. I bought one a while ago and I would say on par with Squier Classic Vibe at less money, I have two of the CV, a Strat and a Tele. I also have an American Strat and Tele for comparison also and the Yamaha holds up very well for the money. I also have an SX Semi hollow Tele and it is amazing for the money. Good luck
Oh yep good point, forgot the Yamaha Pacifica's, never owned one but only hear good things about them. I was looking at a 311H Pacifica a while ago. Humbucker and P90 is a pretty interesting combo.
Love P90s, I have an Epiphone Casino with them, just a great sounding and playing guitar, gotta watch the feedback though
If anyone's chasing a large cheap pedal board $15: https://www.kmart.com.au/product/bamboo-duck-board/807389
