dunno.. i rkn i3 and i5 could give sb a run for it's money in stage 1. 1366 is going to own stage 2 with the limitations sb has with it's memory bus and stage 3 will be a toss up between those who own a nice sandy vs those that have a e86 and ln2 pots.

with the ruling that competitors must use the same rig for all 3 stages it'll be really interesting to see which direction those with a hw library lean.

cheers for the support gigabyte

    awesome prizes dino!

cool, looks like a good excuse to finally try out maxxmem.
am hoping the 4th unannounced stage will be a tad more AMD friendly, though thats a little hard..

might have to look into picking up some 1155 gear again

Yeah having the same hardware for all 3 stages makes it interesting.

Question, with the AIR and Water only groups, can I use my AC unit to blow at the heatsink? Or is that not allowed?

i think the opinion was last time "if you are in a hot climate, having aircon on in the house is fine"
but ducting straight to the PC is perhaps another matter up for debate... not really fair on others, IMO.

anyway, i missed the part about having same base rig for all entries. interesting..
guess if im going 1155 after all, id better hurry the hell up

on this, can i swap CPUs/GPUs/MEM (or all 3) on my rig, leaving just mobo as the base?
edit: also, group 3: guessing AMD x6 CPU not suitable?

I can't see a problem with benching outside or using AC - but no slush buckets in gorup 2 or 3 ;)

Nope - Must use the EXACT same rig for all 3 stages :D

    ANYTHING pre AM3 is fine
    ANYTHING pre DX11 is fine

    :)

    hmm
well technically both my x2 and x6 cpus are AM3. bummer, given neither comes close to 1155 or 1156, which have no such restriction.

looks like i could be benching mini-itx 1156 then, if im running on my current gear. could be interesting
unless i get a bit of cash this week of course, then its 1155

No rule saying you cant use 2x differant rigs ;) Just when you submit a score with ONE rig you MUST use it for the rest of the stages. You can always then submit with a different rig in all three stages again ;)

1156 can be a decent contender in this ;)

EDIT: I actually think group 3 will be the most interesting ;)

YOU CAN ONLY WIN ONE PRIZE THO ;)

    O I C
so i have to enter a given setup in every bench its allowed in.
    interesting.
so the AMD gear will still get a run, just in g1/g2. can try a 1156 config in all 3 current classes, and so on. cool!

its going to be a busy month, then! especially so for you ando, keeping up with all the submits :wired:

So if you pick an 1155 rig you can't do group 3 due to it being restricted to no 1155? And if you pick 1156 you can't do group 2?

    Interesting comp
