interesting, do you get much of these things done? I'm definitely interested
A lot of 1st timers before the craze of the mech here would have most likely used the MX black switches and not anything else unless they got the DAS mech with brown switches.
Im glad i tried blacks 1st. because its a reference point for all switches and how stiff others are or aren't. Blacks for me at the start was fine like you no references to say otherwise.
Then went to blues and fell in love with the feel, noise was fine for me but not what i want now after using reds and browns.
I still think the Blues are the easiest to press even though i mainly used the reds day in and day out. To me the reds are a typing switch with little resistance and less noise.
Blacks are for heavy hands who likes to really press down or gets excited when gaming. It has a real push back force that is really someone to try out.
Blues are the most different out of the lot and are an acquired taste due to the noise. I find the noise overtakes the press stiffness over the browns. The browns even though technically are lighter to press don't feel that way to me.
I havent touched clears yet but from what i can tell i won't like them.
Love to try a varied Topre next or a HHK.
As an experience i do recommend at least trying each of the main switches. you might find yourself liking the switch you least though you would hate. Certainly for me the blacks will never be in the grasp again.
Finally a good reason to justify having a full size mech
I must place an order for one of these
Now which key should i get as an esc to go with it
ps. i need to kill whoever first linked me to geekhack, i'll have to track back through the pages in this thread to work out who it was. My wallet hates you.
i just got in contact with AUSPC because they need to stipulate what type of plastic they are using on their key caps range, to me they look PBT and some DS lurking to.
Just bought a few of them in a group buy, I will keep a couple for myself
I'll drop you a pm when I get them
edit: didn't get mine off this guy, but this kind of thing comes up pretty frequently
said it before, HHKB with white keys, yeah the best looking kb on the planet IMO... looks so good ey
Sick, that'd be awesome mate, I'd love to be rich and fill an entire board with smileys
I finally retired my ol' faithful Microsoft Multimedia today. Eight years of faithful, if rubber-domed, service. Only dishwashered it once!
Sigh...one day I shall own a board with Cherry Browns, but for now I'm happy with this $19 scissor key.
Anyone know if a USB Female to PS/2 Male adapter exists, as the ghosting's pretty bad on this board...?
PS/2 is not going to resolve your rollover situation. It's a limitation of the keyboard.
You've been using a (non Topre ) rubber dome for 8 years and still cannot justify buying a decent board? At that rate a Cherry MX would outlast your grandchildren.
Naturally I want every key on my keyboard to look like that... Inb4 WASDKeyboards order.
Oh and this image is for HornySamus. It's how I feel when typing on blues.
Basically just typing to make that sweet sweet noise.
LMAO thats gold.
i just installed my PBT white caps, unsure on the look. White is very white but im sure it will grow on me.
Pics later im gaming.
If you like the feel of a rubber dome, get a Topre. It's an extremely refined version of that basically.
Finally got my Leo FC200R in Cherry Blues. This thing is pretty pretty pretty sweet.
Did I hear a 'bs is my fav switch', Buy my Unicomp
Oh fuck yeh
No one wants your unicomp
Haha I have my beloved Model M already so close but no donut champ
I think because I used a Model M for so long and I'm typing on all those shitty rubber domes at work that I naturally love switches that take more force. These black switches are just so smooth!
so i may have just placed orders for some of those custom keycaps....
Without asking me? For shame!
avent paid yet ay
tis cool. we still bruvers.
