Couple of my mates took out a couple of awards at The Independent Bottlers Challenge in Edinburgh last week: https://www.thedrinksreport.com/new...bottlers-challenge-2019-winners-revealed.html beating out the likes of Heartwood and Tasmanian Independent Bottlers. They still have bottles of the Gavel left on their online store too it seems!
i dont get the hype behind heartwood, i got 4 bottles of sillivan cove i bought just because the hype, i havent open them but i doubt its worth the price people are paying for on ebay/aftermarket i was just looking at dark valley website a week a go, no word of lie, any discount coupons ? ahaha i also want to know where to start since they have so many bottlings ! judge grave have this tasting notes Plums and cranberries with a lightly smoked oak tannin, as the palate turns into raspberry coulis at a luxury high tea that lasts and lasts. damn luxury high tea, that got me hook line and sinker, you tried? Teelings is the shit,, anything teeling in your range buy without doubt haha
Nah no discounts currently! Really hard to pick one out of their current stock - the Peacok's Feather being a bottling of Killara spirit is bound to be amazing, especially if a sherry bomb is your thing. Otherwise the Judge's Gavel is the one that just picked up the Silver Award.
on heartwood, i also found out they own Tasmania independent bottling as their more "affordable range"
Tried a few bourbons lately, Wild Turkey Rare breed is probably the best value barrel proof, Bookers is deliciously good after you get past the alcohol heat
I do love Bookers. For a non cask strength variety I can strongly recommend Buffalo Trace - pretty affordable too.
Dan Murphy's have 20% off their eBay store using code PMON20 until 28/6 https://www.ebay.com.au/usr/danmurphys_au?_trksid=p2047675.l2559
That and the 25% off at boozebud (code is CMCPC, telling me it's "unique" to me but somehow I doubt it, maybe because I made an order there recently?) has emptied my wallet but filled my liquor cabinet. Things like the Woodford Reserve Double Oaked for $56, Laphroaig Qtr Cask for $68, Mitchers Rye for $85 (best old fashioned rye, IMO, from boozebud), it was a good chance to pick up some random things that I usually wouldn't, like a 20 y.o canadian club for $67 and Shackleton for $45. Lot of great prices in there. I'm set until Christmas.
Boozebud are also on Catch of the Day with free shipping so if you're lucky enough (well, let's face it, we all get them) you'll get a $15 off $60 that you could use. Yes we're keeping the economy going that's for sure as well as the postie in a job.
I hope people have been utilising the pretty good ebay/dan murphy deals recently. Some fine whiskeys goiing pretty cheap, especially some of the Japanese ones too.
See above post It'd been a while since my last Laphroaig & getting the Quarter Cask was an absolute bonus, as generally a nice whisky like this is well out of my reach.
For new boozebud users, Canadian club 700ml, 2 for 45 bucks delivered using code BUD34PK , sold out a few times but seem to be updating inventory over night. get on it for a ridiculously cheap mixer!
