    It's almost here!

    I can't believe there wasn't a thread!?

Who else is day oneing this?

For those who don't know about it's existance and have a Switch jump on the eshop for the 3 hour demo (with all progress carried over to the full game).

Also, review embargo is up tomorrow so we'll get reviewers thoughts - hoping it does well as the sample I've played was great.

If anyone is wondering this is a turn-based combat open world JRPG game.

I've put 18 hours in so far, done the first chapter for all eight of the characters. Good times so far.

I'm about to play the demo before deciding to pull the trigger on this! How is the combat system? Does it get tired at all after a number of hours in?

Have this on Twitch in the background while I'm working. I want to play it so bad, but don't have the time for this sort of game. :(

Adding to the "when I retire" list.

The whole break/vulnerable system is really cool to watch. Giant overpowered attacks that just turn enemies to dust.

And the whole thing is just sexy. I hope this spawns a bunch of games that use this sort of look (scrolling beat 'em ups that I have time to play for 15 minutes a go, plzkthx).

not only that but it's UE4 if you can believe it!?

    I know right.

also the Break mechanic is super satisfying to pull off in battle. And some of the overpowered attacks too.

Yes, I can. Same engine used in Dragon Ball Fighter Z to deliver the near-perfect "Saturday morning cartoon" low-framerate 2D animation look using actual 3D sprites and high frame rates. (Their upcoming "Kill La Kill" game will use something similar).

As a lover of 2D art, this makes me very, very happy to see. 2D games have long been considered non-viable for higher budget titles due to production costs associated with making lots of 2D content. The fact that so much effort is going into 3D engines to bring back the 2D aesthetic excites me.

I'm running around the map unlocking the secondary jobs before moving on to chapter two for each character, I'm still loving it.

My Switch arrived yesterday. I downloaded Octopath Traveller demo and played it a bit lastnight, then did more today... hit the 3 hour demo limit, and immediately bought the full version. I really dig it. Was never in to JRPGs in my youth (eg the classic NES/SNES era stuff) but this really works for me. Been playing Primrose, and enjoying her story. I've met a couple others so far; got Tressa and Olberic in my party. Gonna head north to get Ophilia next, I think; could do with a healer.

Anyway. I really enjoy it.Hope to get at least a few dozen hours out of it for the $90 pricetag. >.>
