I went through the order process and bailed out when I saw the gouging we cop on shipping and now tax aswell, despite it being an international sale under the threshold.

$350 became $510+ AUD. For that kind of money i'll wait for the better resolution and frame rate of the CV.

heh yeah heard about that this afternoon from a friend, was waiting for a response. Hard to say if its a good move or not. I don't like facebook so I'm biased but they may actually accelerate/make it better with their resources, on the other hand marketing and ad revenue... :(

wow really??? i mean like is this not an early aprils fool joke? i am hugely disappointed in palmer if this is true, especially given everything he has ever said about the device, and his stance in general this seems like a real weird move, i guess greed changes people. guess we can look forward to virtual reality farmsville :thumbdn:

it seems as if he was conned, he really thinks it will make VR go mainstream? yeah sure but to what end? not the end he surely had in mind when he envisioned it you can be sure of that. facebook will ruin it.

    I ordered the dk2 a few hours after launch. I don't have a dk1.

Was a bit pissed about the gst and shipping rip off also. Especially when they charged me gst on a USD amount.

Nevertheless I am super pumped about having one on order.

I have not tried VR since 1993 on a virtuality machine!

It's true. Totally disappointed. Crowdfunding something and then flogging it to a corporation is disgusting but unavoidabe =\

Had a go on one of the Virtuality setups in the early 90's too and thought VR was here for good then.

Grabbed a DK1 mid last year and ordered a DK2 on announcement.

Was totally bummed out when I saw the FB takeover and came pretty close to cancelling my DK2 order. Glad I didn't, the more I thought about it and the more I read the more it seemed that it might not be as bad as I feared. Maybe even better as the Rift will have some serious $$ behind it now and the reach of FB will ensure that the Rift will become a household name (I hope).

    Bring on CV1.

I ordered about 4 hours after the launch. I'm praying I'm in the first shipment.

Building an Mini-itx gaming PC now! Also very excited...!:weirdo:

I can only see out of one eye, why would this be an issue?

I thought it would be a bigger issue than it is. I have been corrected.

Stereoscopic 3D isn't possible with just 1 eye, but it is still an immersive experience.

Just wait a little longer till a few more people have gotten theirs and posted on here before you decide.

    I ordered almost straight away.

I frequent this http://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/ and load anything that comes along.

i am downloading elite dangerous today to try it and also will try HL2 some time soon. but i really feel that i have lost the sense of presence now since ive been using dk1/dk2 for so long i am used to it.
