I suspect thats to encourage crafting of items
The large amount of gold could just be they set the drop to a higher value so beta players didn't have to farm inorder to test things out. I wouldn't expect to have that much extra gold at release but only time will tell.
i have an SSD and loads times are instant. I'd say a graphics update + SSD would be your best option.
nothing over the top though, my system in sig runs this at a constant 60fps(vsync on) with max everything @ 2560x1440 and it does not break a sweat. (as you'd expect for an average looking game, hope they up the texture detail/res for the retail release...)
The diversity will change when runes will go on the weapons. And i think or suspect they are limited the range of speciLs drops found when they release we will be surprised on the variations we have not even seen.
Last night i managed to find a broadsword which was the 1st time ive seen one in over 20 hours of gameplay.
After playing through with the wizard i founf her the hardest to use. ill run through a few more times with her. i found her getting trapped alot. i died once but once i found a better main weapkn of about 15 dmg and rune upgraded magic missile she was alot better. i liked the ice blast but i found the crystal armour better for the litch king as i could use it when he did his 3 hit swimg and cop zero damage. she would be best with heavy armour with fast speed and a top teir shield.
Yeh, I've not seen a staff weapon drop at all, nor a magical dagger. Had HEAPS of magical bows though!
Good fun though. Demon Hunter is probably my favorite atm. Hungering arrow is brutal!
Just signed up. Stupid that you are limited to 12 characters in this day and age. Anyway my battle.net name is LinkMcOwnage in case you want to play.
Hey man thanks for the reply. Your system is very nice... I might go for a 560 or 570 + SSD.. That should do me.
Also, about the ingame points thing, I saw a menu option (that's automatically enabled) that said something about auto allocation of skills? I think that's a hint that you can choose to do things more to your own liking
Wow, taking forever to download, and speeds are fluctuating wildly. How long did it take you guys to download?
I run a 560 and crucial m4 ssd. The game runs beautifully.
around 18 hours for me, also with wild fluctuations.
Seriously? 1 hour? I must be obsessed with clearing areas or something because I spent quite a bit longer then that. Of course I did break a lot of pots too
I was getting nearly 1mb/s when I downloaded it yesterday morning so not very long.
Agreed on peoples complaints regarding item value. I hope blizzard did up the gold drop for the stress test otherwise it won't be worth picking up anything non magical/rare/unique. I remember gold drops in D2 act 1 being much smaller on average but in D3 every second gold drop for me was 20-45 gold.
Did anyone bother to use crafting much? I got it to level 2 and made a couple items. So far it seems useless though I like that you can get something out of magic and rare items other than just gold for selling them. Is there going to be any value in getting good at crafting? Several million players all stuck in the same crafting tree with lots of gold that isn't useful for much else. If you had to specialise on a specific category then it would make a bit more sense but it appears if you just throw gold at it you get better and everyone else will be just as good. Probably far more money to be made selling the supplies for crafting than actually crafting.
I very much doubt they are going to change the look of character models in a few weeks.......
Played through it yesterday as a Barbarian. Am I the only one that thinks the textures are rubbish and the gameplay is boring? click*9000. Might as well just watch a movie, would get a similar level of interaction.
i also feel that with this class ill be buying a new mouse soon.
I found the monk pretty boring. Felt like i was playing Street Fighter.
ah you do realize this is Diablo? of course its a click fest.
However i do agree on the textures...
Orphan pretty much summed it up. Just doesn't feel dark and evil. At all.
I honestly think that no game can get that feeling being cell shaded(cartoon).
Been thinking about it and I can't describe it properly. But I've come to the game isn't supposed to look fun, yet game play should be.
Yet it looks like a fun game and the game play is enjoyable I guess.
Kinda like playing WoW. Join alliance and you feel like you're on the good team. Play horde and you feel evil some what. Diablo feels like you're playing alliance.
Needs to be bloody corpses opposed to injured soldiers or whatever they are that you come across. But saying that a bloody corpse would look pretty average cell shaded.
Basically, not feeling it.
There I was thinking it would be an awesome game, still might be but being a few weeks from release it won't change too much. Kinda regretting paying 80AUD to battle.net for my copy. We shall see I guess..
EDIT: My guess is it will be 'bad' for everyone. Being everyone will have high expectations for it.
Tis fairly win in my opinion. I mean it is just a glimpse into what the full game has to offer in terms of difficulty and story... I mean skelly king is fairly softcore lore wise so I have a feeling once we get deeper it should get bit more dark... Hopefully.
Surprisingly I thought Monk would be my least liked character but he has jumped up onto my no.1.
Barb feels insanely brutal such huge amounts of damage but a bit plain.
I think you should wait for the full game regardless. I get what you're saying and somewhat agree. To me, I love the look of it. It has that classic Blizzard feel about it (whether you like that or not) which is qute distinct in recent years compared to the D2 days.
Besides, multiplayer was a metric f-tonne of fun on D2, maybe the biggest drawcard. We just have to wait and see. It's been so long between the two titles it's nearly impossible to recreate a game like that and please people I think.
I think gaming has changed a lot since D2. I was a huge HUGE D1 fan, not so much D2 but I really enjoyed the hour I played D3 last night.
To me, it had the same feel, same music, same sounds and felt fun. I'm sure I'm not the only gamer who loved the original/sequel but fell out of the loop in the years gone by and are struggling to remember the story and elements of them.
That said, bits and pieces come back to me when I was playing it that made me smile. Even the sound of dropping items from your inv had the same sound, heh.
I'm excited for the full version, I'm sure it has a lot more to offer than old sounds and similar music. The beta confirmed for me that I'll happily give blizzard $80 again to pick up the Diablo story and slash me up some undead.
It cant be because the grey items cant be salvaged. Only the magical ones can.
Again this game is several weeks away from being completely and utterly finished. This 'beta' was 15gig. So there will be NO major graphical or gameplay changes in two weeks, what you see is pretty much what you will get. Will the gold drop rate change? I dunno, possibly but not by much I think. Does every second player imagine he's gonna make real money out of the real money ah, I think they are, in reality I doubt many will, guess we'll see.
