What's a living wage in NZ? by throwaway00001012345 in KiwiTech

I'm from Wellington. If you are doing IT then Wellington is much better. See http://www.news.com.au/finance/econ...d/news-story/cee2a50e087b286fd219982b842f7682
And the coffee is better than auckland. Rent is pretty high tho.
Though I currently live in Melbourne as the wages are much higher here and rent is cheaper! Senior Dev's for the company I work for would be on about AU$120K for approx 10yrs dev experience. I'm on AU$100K with about 5 years experience doing sysadmin/application support work.
    How many years experience?
*Edit: And you can get some decent fibre connections for very cheap - unlimited 400Mbps up and down for NZ$120/mth

Perfectly reasonable hardware specs for a DC serving no other role.

Just to be clear, the ATO suffered a loss of data internally, not externally. ;)

Being intentionally vague but this a government project. I'm just a sysadmin that's had some major work dumped in my lap as part of a new job. Team of 50+ cut down to 3 then I get hired. On my first day I was asked to fix a failed 8 server MSSQL AOAG cluster - I'm mostly a Linux admin so it was pretty hilarious

Not in NZ at the moment. Australia is home for the moment.

This can't be good at all.

In my experience I've had nothing but fail from HP storage. I even ranted on this forum once about a particular storage issue, HP and their social media scans picked up this negative feedback, and identified it was our company it as we were one of the few with said HP product in AU (no names or companies were mentioned in the rant). This rant made its way to our CIO and since I was the storage admin my boss gave me warning as they reckon it was me but at the same time they did not have 100% proof.

Good news is we no longer use HP. :p

What did HP say about the rant?
    Was it factual?
    Did they fix it?

Making B&EC non-public comes up every so often, and I've often wondered what some peoples employers or vendors would say if they read some of the comments.

It's not a bad idea at all I don't think. I have refrained from posting countless times due to that very reason.

    ATO down again...

    Quite embarrassing...
Down again today with agents having to use the portal.

"—and frustrated business owners are once more pleading for compensation after critical ATO systems were wiped out again on Thursday."

"On Thursday morning portal services were hit again, due to what the ATO says are issues “relating to the hardware faults that occurred in December”."
