    Which specific function are you referring to?

    Dynamic Contrast and Colouring
    Tone Mapping
    Motion Smoothing
    Upscaling Algorithms

    Yeah pretty much all of it.

    Most enthusiasts and many others too can't stand motion interpolation and the associated problems it causes with the image.

    Not for me, ETTO.

    There is a "film mode" which disables all the image processing tech.

    4K BR are usually mastered pretty well.

    A lot of the tech LG seems to be putting in is trying to make up of the lack of brightness of OLED.

    So, I've picked up the samsung 55inch gz1000u. Are there any magical settings in this tv that the wonderfull people here would recommend i tinker with? Just a purely selfish request to give me the best experience while watching streamed 4k content and gaming on the one x.

    You mean Panasonic right? ;)

    hdtvtest.co.uk is down right now, however they may have a review there with their calibration settings... which are not always the same for each panel in the same series either.

    So that said you should also refine with test patterns like;

    http://spearsandmunsil.com/products/

    For real calibration though proper equipment is required or an accredited professional.

    Panasonic yes, my bad.

    I was hoping to cheat the game a little by turning on some of the processing turned off by enabling the professional preset. Its very much like the film mode everyones been talking about recently.

    Theres a difference between enthusiasts and purists. You are all welcome to jump on the purist bandwagon and shit on everyone who doesn't. I've just never been a fan of a bandwagon. Ill take whats more pleasing to my eye.

    Now who's shitting on things? ;)

    Relax mate, it's not uncommon to discover differing opinions and expectations of tech on a forum.

    I will always make fun of bandwagoners. Its not hard to think for yourself but some people really would rather just jump on whats popular instead.

    Is being a display purist as you put it popular? I'd suggest things like having tv's on dynamic or torch mode, even displaying 4:3 in a 16:9 stretch is more popular in that context. :leet:

    Biting at the tail of a circular argument will have one running in circles.

    It's all good and well to have something and argue it's purpose and aforemention use, but how would you know unless you'd been swinging the tool as the slave master. The tool being the slave but taking title as it spins you in circles round and round but never going anywhere.

    Sounds like a good movie, best viewed on a nice new OLED. :cool:

    Just remembered that the GZ1000 is the basically the same as the GZ950 so this might help with settings;

    So cheap. I am very tempted to get it even though I want the 48CX just becauae we all know that 48 is going to be like min $1k more than this on release.
