I think there is such a thing as 45mb/s as well...
what ETA digidirect gave you?
none. i asked about the pricing since Olympus Aus hasn't released rrp yet and he said that's their price and if it goes up they take the hit but if it comes down they pass on the savings. i don't expect the price to be any lower than that considering bandh have the same kit for $1.3k. add freight and taxes and digi price is cheaper. it's the only reason i pre-ordered. i suspect that $1.5k is too low for aus stock.
has anyone seen prices on any other aus site?
edit: btw, release date on bandh is 10 Apr.
live bulb = win
I always use it in MF mode too where the AEL button at the back becomes AF and macro is always on. This way the shutter release is AEL with a half press.
This makes the camera so much easier to use.
Shot with the OM-D. Shame it's on Youtube though. Would like to see it on Vimeo as one of the comments says.
Question. If a friend purchases an OM-D for me and then sends it to me as a gift, will I be liable for customs charges?
^just make sure it's valued under $1000aud. unde $500aud if you're shipping out of the postal system (fedex, dhl etc).
If it's used briefly / '2nd hand' / declared as a gift does it matter still? How do they determine value? Does anyone have any experience in this regard?
i don't think labelling it as a gift would matter too much. even for gifts you are subject to the same rules. i'd still label it as a gift on the safe side. when filling out the shipping form, a value is used. label that under $1000aud if you're using the postal system to ship. it's best to leave the invoice out. just get your friend to email that to you instead.
They determine the value buy holding the item until you provide proof of the amount you paid. You don't pay tax on the 'value' of the item, you pay tax on the amount you paid for it.
I guess for a gift you would have to get a copy of the receipt for the person who did pay for it.
This happened a couple of years back when I bought a 550D from Digitalrev. I paid $980 for it I think (they are a lot cheaper now) and I had to email customs with a screen shot of my bank account showing the amount I paid. It was fairly painless although I had to contact them when my parcel didn't arrive. They don't come looking for you.
Another thing. this camera would be freaking awesome if it was an actual SLR.
It has a bump for a prism but no prism??? May as well have put one in there!
EVF is a bit poo though...
and official pricing is out:
E-M5 Body Only AUD $1299
E-M5 Single Lens Kit (with 14-42mm IIR lens) AUD $1399
E-M5 Weatherproof Kit (with 12-50mm lens) AUD $1499
E-M5 Double Zoom Kit (with 14-42 IIR & 40-150mm R lenses) AUD $1599
Hi, yes, we do have a 550D in stock. That will be $480 for the camera and a $500 warehouse handling charge, charged as two separate amounts. We will send you the invoice showing your $480 cost for this item in the mail with your item.
So Digidirect were spot on with their pricing about a month ago. Wonder if it was just a stab in the dark or they knew something. No other store in Aus had prices up and most still don't.
Anyway, a C-AF video:
Would be more interesting with that video if they shot wide open. Fairly large DOF it seems?
yeah my thought exactly. not the best of tests but it's something at least.
Is freight included in this valuation?
no freight is not included. ie/ $990 camera + $11 postage is still Tax free
The video is terrible from what ive seen. Handycam quality.
BIG disappointment. If it was remotely close to GH2 i would sign on the line.
How's that work?
Same sensor as GH2.
