    Review

While this isnt my first tablet pc, Its acctually my second. First being a ipad.
First of all dont compare this to a ipad, In no way was it made to beat it.

When you first get it out the box it looks good, nice 7" Screen with a glossy bezel. Then you turn the tablet over and realise the backplate is completely plastic... The instructions it comes with are vague and hopeless.

    1. How to turn it on, open it etc.
    2. Once opened and sim card inserted you need to activate your sim.

Thats it... And inserting the simcard is a challenge in itself.

So once you have done all that and fired it up you will realise its acutally quite fast, you can navigate the menu and apps with ease, While it lacks multi-touch the touchscreen is actually quite good. It makes phone calls and sms with no problem, connects to 3G internet or wifi without a issue aswell. It has access to the android marketplace making it easy to get whatever apps you want. ZTE have announced 2.2 froyo will be released in the upcoming year which will be awesome, Flash etc is a must..
Video and music playback seems good with no issues either.

    Overall Thoughts:

While its not an ipad, In my opinion i think this is a great little device, and for $280 you cant go wrong, For a entry level tablet this is the way to go...

    Not at all.

    ZTE make the optus one
    Huawei make the telstra one.

And the telstra one is a complete fail in every way as oppose to this one.
    (yes ive used both)

I picked up one of these before Christmas and am very happy with it. Wanted something to use on my Wifi network and not have to sign up to any long term phone plans.

For general web browsing and email it is great. If you want to play games like Angry Birds it is a bit slow though.

according to ZTE website the screen res is 800x480 not 800x400 and it is resistive.

    ok , some questions

    Does it run android market
Can you play games on it , like angry birds @ hungry shark?

how much external memeory does it come with from optus? (sdcard)

edit can you run the device as a Wi-fi access point?

Angry Birds works but is noticably slower than my Samung Galaxy S. Also the screen input can bit a bit iffy at times.

    Not that I've seen.

WiFi tethering is a 2.2 feature. So it should work once ZTE get the update out.

Not at all... I ordered a 16GB A101 on monday for $450 which is less than half of a galaxy Tab, no GPS or 3g but thats fine because my phone has both and can share both wirelessly with it (and I'll almost never have the tablet without the phone).

Or think of it like this, I'll be mostly using it on the train which has no 3g anyway (crappy sydney tunnels) and anything bigger than an ebook you wouldnt want to download over 3g anyway. So why bother paying another $50/m for a net connection for it when I can share my phones and wifi?
