My fiance wants some of those drugs... She's hoping for a replacement for the K5, or a cheaper 645D... T___T

    So, technically...

    Pentax K7
Pentax K200D (serious AF problems since dropping it and getting it fixed at CRK)
    Pentax K1000
    Pentax DA 18-55WR
    Pentax FA 50mm F1.4
    Pentax M 50mm F2
    Pentax Takumar Bayonet 135mm F2.5
    Some weird off-brand 135mm F2.8 Manual focus
    Sigma 18-125DC
    Sigma 55-200DC
Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4.5 (dropped, sticking Aperture leaves)
    Tamron 18-200

Kinda long-term borrowed by the Fiance until she gets her own Pentax stuff... I may have left, but i leave a legacy of another Pentaxian in my family... IF she had enough money, she'd go to both extremes of sensor size (Q + 645D)....

They actually dropped $1200 off the retail price for 645D's the other week so they're sitting at around $8800 I believe now.

Oh my Dawkins!! that is one pretty nice collection. I've always had a soft spot for the K200D but I sold it a few years back...regretting it ever since for some reason.

    Kudos for posting

I actually think the announcement isn't too shabby. I'm glad that Pentax have kept the K-5's as 16MP cameras as many companies these days just release 24MP ones and expect the consumer to pay up thinking they can take better photos.

Interesting to see how this goes down with the crowds...

Well I'm glad I didn't wait for Pentax to announce their new lineup and got a K-5 a few months back for a steal.

Personally I don't have a problem with AF and my K-5. Infact I am totally surprised that I have a keeper rate of about 90-95% with only a few unusable pictures, and that's using AF-C mode with my Tamron 70-200 wich apparently is a nightmare. Did I mention this is while tracking my two little girls which is worse than any sport situation you could be placed in.

Just last week I bought the DA L 35mm f2.8 macro. I don't care about full frame at this point in time. Not unless FF will be under $2500 for the camera and in a body the size of the K-5.

I say well done Pentax for taking their time and putting some money into R&D before releasing a FF camera, which is obvuiously why they released the stop-gap K-5 II.

I see the flagship product being announced just the day before Photokina.

most likely the 24 megapixel offering as rumored.... just don't see a FF for pentax anytime soon if ever.

None of the prime M processor improvements is in the K-5II... it will be coming soon in another camera.

I'll be keen to pickup a second hand K5IIs in a couple months.

Still hoping to see some additional announcements for Photokina.

"How to save around 50% on Pentax lenses in the US
If you want to secure low prices on Pentax lenses in the US and don't live in NYC, call Adorama at 800-815-0664 / 646-758-8887 or B&H at 877-849-6359 / 212-502-6343 rather than ordering online. You'll be able to get lenses at pre-MAP prices, with the instant rebates in effect on top of that.
For example, the Pentax 16-50mm is $804.95 on the phone rather than $1421.95 online.
Apparently, the Pentax pricing restrictions are for online sales only. I've confirmed this personally with B&H, and they've also told me that they are working to stop this madness, as it's virtually halting online lens sales."

Copied from a post over at pentax forums.

Might be just what some people need to buy some more pentax lenses before any gst free threshold changes occur.

    Actual press release: http://www.pentaximaging.com/about/press/289

There are also rumors of more announcements to be made and that Ricoh is moving towards full frame after executing Hoya's release map, but I guess we shall have to wait and see.

Sounds the standard corporate speak for fired with benefits so you don't make a fuss and cause us to lose face/ create a scene. As well as let's put a ricoh man in charge opportunity.

Ned has always been very open with users on dpreview and on his own photo blog. Can't see that happening with the new administration.

Job well done Ned. Go enjoy your retirement check.

I predict a lot of pentaxians jumping ship for FF given the lack of a proper upgrade for the K5.
I for one am dissappointed of no FF announcement from Pentax.
They could have had something unique, something different to the rest of the FF DSLRs out there.
Smallest FF camera now goes to the RX1- Guess they can try for the smallest FF ILC...

I want to use my 31mm like its supposed to be used- perhaps I should try Film lol...

I doubt the number of Pentax owners wanting FF is very significant...
