You really think old glass is going to be up to the task of resolving for a 36MP sensor with no AA filter?

My AA filterless K-5iis has the same pixel density and gets served very detailed files from SMC 50/1.4, Super tak 50/1.4, 105/2.8, F*300/4.5, M 85/2,
    50/4 macro m42 etc

I can't find the review again but someone tried a couple of old lenses on the K-1 in a preview and it was quite soft compared to what the camera was capable of.

Might have been the dpr preview, they threw the M50 1:2 on it, as it was all they had. pretty average consumer lens in its day

I think most lenses are average for a sensor like this, Canon had to revamp most of their lens lineup to make way for this new generation of sensors.

The lens that kicked off the revamp of their entire lens collection was the 70-200 which was originally released in 2001 and was revamped in 2010. Likewise the 24-70 was released in 2002 and was revamped in 2012 and is now the benchmark for that segment.

Hardly 20yr old lenses, the old Pentax glass is far older and yes the old Canon glass can't cope with newer sensors, I don't see why Pentax would be any different as Nikon was the same.

What many lenses will struggle with is the edge sharpness.

Sharpness have been fine due to the cropped sensors but the full frame will expose even good lenses that have never been exposed to the full pixel peeping powers of a 36MP 35mm sensor. Decentring issues will probably be exasperated.

.. going to completely ignore that it's been titled "OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA" and point out the D FA Roadmap

Right at the Bottom: Fisheye Zoom. Re-release of the FA17-28? I loved the DA10-17 when i had it

The K-3 took a bit of time to come down (from memory when I bought one) and buying direct from the Pentax store (CRK) was the cheapest option.

edit: I just did a proper currency conversion and that price does seem about right.

Maybe, I mean its been something like 4 years since the last Pentax SLR got a TIPA award, last year they got two categories for the 645Z and the K-01.

Given the award is based on voting by the editors of 28 magazines its hard to say how valuable it is. Last year the award in the expert category went to the 7DmkII.

According to this author they're a big deal at least lol http://bokeh.digitalrev.com/article/winners-of-the-technical-image-press-association-awards-2016

If it weren't for TIPA awards 2008 (where the K10D got an award) I wouldn't have bought my first Pentax. I was going into the shop I totally set on a Nikon.

Glad I got the Pentax and have been a convert since.
