PS - I like yah desktop, but KDE left a bad taste in the early days with their disregard for copyright and licensing.

OpenRC https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenRC is IMO the future of avoiding systemd, and with many moving to Alpine hopefully people will start to realise.

GTK3 left a bad taste in my mouth with devs constantly trying to lock down desktop Linux, hence my switch to KDE.

I would have liked to stay on GTK2 forever, but it's just not realistic. Furthermore I have to say that KDE Neon is far nicer with far smoother animations, and as stated I can't believe how well fractional scaling works under X11.

Mate initV has never let me down, but Alpine usage for me has been steadily increasing in the past 2 years and anoys me way less then systemd to the point I'm considering using Alpine outide of docker.

Is Alpine using busybox init or classic sysvinit underneath OpenRC?

    LXDE-Qt for lyfe!

Previous workplace was all KDE/Plasma. Now I'm outta there, so everything's getting converted to LXDE at home, although I must admit I'm falling in love with XFCE all over again.

Zero interest in sexy animations. Only interested in a nice mix of lightweight, fast and functional.

Thank goodness for choices in free software. Imaging having to put up with an OS that forces it's terrible design decisions on you? That sounds utterly dreadful.
