Something has come down hard on that edge, you can see that clearly.....box has bounced back, contents haven't.

Only if you get the right buffing agent.

I purchased mine last year around this time as well. the screen was smashed at the top (no obvious damage to box). Took six weeks for Umart to replace.

Was it their fault or supply issues?

I know Dell has had supply issues in the past, with replacements, I've had it happen to me with an rma.

Supply issue apparently. Umart got onto Phillips straight away but as it was the Xmas holidays, it took a long time to replace.

Finally got an email reply from umart -- they're sending Australia Post to collect the broken monitor.

The umart rep now says they have no more stock so I could opt for a credit/refund; its the only monitor that would be better than what I have, so I'll take the refund when it's offered, and wait until after New Year and see what's available during the new year sales.

What's doubly irritating is that the only supplier locally (Canberra) is MSY, and I absolutely refuse to deal with MSY -- if I had bought this monitor from MSY, I'm sure I'd not be getting my money back, because my past dealings with them have never turned out okay when anything has gone wrong with equipment.

No self-Christmas Present for me. :( At least I'll not have the 1K+ credit card debit. :)

EDIT: Got a call from Umart today -- Australia Post picked up the broken monitor just before they called. They say they might get more stock tomorrow, so crossing fingers, I might have my new monitor next week. Pie in the sky hopeful -- I got my Displayport MST splitter from Cablechick and a displayport cable, just need a working monitor now.

EDIT 2: They contacted me today, confirmed that they are shipping me a replacement Philips monitor from another store! Yay.

Tracking says it's waiting for pickup in Brisbane, and expected delivery date is 29th December.

Looking forward to it. I have the cables for four monitor connections from my R9-290X (two Display port via splitter, one native HDMI, the other DVI->HDMI) and I'm expecting great things from that setup on this monitor.

The replacement from Umart (Qld main store) has arrived, and it works beautifully (well, sitting on the kitchen table, I checked it out).

Here's a crappy iphone pic of it sitting on the table: (dropbox)

Yay for Umart's warranty department, and yay for a new monitor on the last delivery day of the year!

Now to retire this 39" Seiki.

Today has been a GREAT day.

Enjoy it - it's a great monitor

When i first got mine i thought it was a bit ridiculous and actually thought about returning it. But now that i'm used to it - whenever i use anything smaller (even the ever popular 34" ultrawide), it feels pathetically small.

The BDM4350UC is down to $899 now. I guess Philips are dropping it ready for the new 40" curved one for sale shortly?

Dunno weird. Mine just has the word Philips just like on the bottom of the bezel as a splash.
