    Photography: Challenge - All Finished!!!

Well, it's friday, that means the weekend is coming (woohoo), and I thought it might be interesting to propose a challenge to all the budding (and not so budding) photog's we seem to be collecting here in Other Toys.

    So, the challenge subject is thus;

    Monuments, Statues, Memorials, Oh My!

Yup, thats right, get out there this weekend and get some photos of all those statues, plaques, monuements, all those forgotten things that you walk by every day and pay no attention to.

There are no real rules, just post photos you've taken on the weekend. And try not to touch them up too much in photoshop, it's not a competition.

Obviously digital may be easier, but if you want to take some analogue photos, be my guest!

We'll meet back here Monday to discuss.

P.S. If you need a place to putcher photos, check out the Ugbox Imagestore

Can we limit it to the 2 best photos taken by each photographer?..

I think 2 is enough to show what you can do, and the thread will get out of hand if people just post stacks.

    cheers & happy snapping :)

Only TWO, aaargh, how can you pick!

Ok, how about we compromise, 2 thumbnails showing you may have, plus text links to any amount more (or a gallery, perhaps on pbase.com)

    Good?

Yepp sounds like a good compromise!

Maybe we could do this every ft/night or month. And a panel of judges could be set up to score, and we could decide on a winner and runner up or something (depends on how many ppl enter I guess). No prizes, just pride ;)

Well this is cool, just the weekend I am going away microlighting. I'll see what I can do, but it appears that I will only have my shit digi cam, so be prepared for ultra cool low res shots :)

A suspicious looking black man with a big lens and a accent.. photographing national monuments...
What you trying to do.... trying to get me arrested?

Ahh well the comp sounds like a good idea... and I was thinking finishing my roll of film anyway. So if you hear about a guy arrested for scouting targets in the news... its probably me.

I'll put some up as soon as I remember to bring the damn usb cable from home into work (I don't have a pc at home right now).

However, I was thinking of making this a Weekend + This Week challenge, so that people can get some more shots, and things of that nature.

    What do ya'll reckon?

Yeah that sounds like a good idea, it's often hard to find the time on the weekend.

Also you may want to consider not making this a sticky, because I think people often look straight past the stickies and ready the "normal" threads, you may get more views/participation if you "un-sticky" it. (I only noticed it by accident, i usually wouldnt even glance at the sticky's)..Just a thought :)

    Great idea though Freaek

I went and took some shots on the weekend, but I've still gotta sort through them and pick the good ones out. That probably won't happen till I finish work thisafternoon.

This sounds like fun, I'm going to join in :) I recommend you post a date/time for the deadline, makes it easier than just saying "friday".

And for the record, I say limit entries to 1 photo (2 max).

Ok well I took a couple of photos today, and I don't think I'm going to get a chance to take any later in the week, so I guess I'll post them :)

They are both in King George Square in Brisbane.

This one is of the fountain in the square, not really a statue, but I'd like to think of it as a monument. :)

And this photo is of the Clock Tower on the Town Hall. Also a building which I believe is a Brisbane monument.

(The only manipulation that has taken place is cropping/resizing in photoshop)

Ok, lets see some more ppl :D
