Photonicinduction builds a 20kW power supply

Unfortunately there's no consolidated banter thread here, but I feel it's my duty to share this as it's pure art.

Photon is back and he is madder than ever.

 

I LOVED the noise.

He's had a really bad time of it lately so it seems, but that PSU is badass.

 

Yeah, that 50Hz hum is awesome. Much better than the noise a switchmode makes.

P.S. The contactors and relays are good, too...

 

This guy seems to have a screw loose... What is all that stuff used for?

Quite a lot I think. He's really just a kid with big dangerous toys. There's nothing complex or sophisticated to what he's doing, the only thing holding most of us back from doing the same is getting our hands on the parts and enough mains current. I used to blow things up with a 1uF oil filled cap from a WWII radar charged to 15KV. It soon got pretty boring. I really wanted to have my own x-ray machine but getting hold of a tube was an issue.

I just watched the Electric meter pop - so why didnt he get electrocuted when he added the Stanley knife?

 

Its only ~1-3v under load.

HUGE Amps though.

 

When you place two electrodes close together in water, it will generate bubbles. These bubbles are hydrogen. You can experiment with this by using a 6V dolphin torch/lantern battery and a couple of wires. The wires must be close together, but not touching.

His videos are amazing. But he is an expert and he knows what he's doing.

Hundreds if not thousands of amps, but at no more than a couple of volts. He has a little talk about this here...

All of it. But the results are good.
