Not at all... there's no story line, no character progression, and you only get cosmetic unlocks from boxes.
The test server is so good. Miramar is an awesome map, lots and lots of diversity and way more interesting towns. New guns are meh but the sawed off is an excellent addition as a side arm.. less useful in late game against L3 armour though. Plays (apart from the latency to the US) buttery smooth. I get about double the FPS, so at 2560 I get around 120FPS on medium with a 980gtx, and the vaulting is flawless but means you need to learn all new ways of movement and fighting in urban areas. Completely different game. I don't want to go back to the standard one for another 10 days, it's a dumpster fire by comparison.
I feel positive about it, but not as much as you. New map is interesting. It's huge. Open. Hilly. Heaps of random bits of crap on the ground, if someone was just prone or crouch still, often you'd not see them. New water vehicle but water hardly makes an appearance. Vaulting is good, but not flawless. Good enough though. FPS is up. Can Ultra everything and run 80fps, my normal settings runs 144fps.
Like any game that's been out for a while, the barrier for competitive entry is high. But if you've got FPS experience you won't be completely lost in combat. You've just got to learn the game mechanics and play the edge of the circle.
it's not like i don't know how the mechanics work, maybe i might just not be that quick when it comes to reflexes
Definitely also get some friends to buy it too. It's so much better playing with friends as you all laugh heaps at the stupid stuff that you end up doing. The test server has a bit of initial rubber banding but it gets ok after the first few minutes - can't hot drop because of it though as you can't pick up a gun lol. And I find you have to find a car or you'll spend the whole game running in the desert map.
Yeah the lag is a bummer. For me the rubber banding continues past a few minutes. Not having an OC test server is a game breaker for me. On fttp. Yay NBN.
Got to play with the AUG last night, its pretty stupid. Got a dinner with 3 of the kills being the AUG. 1.0 is a massive step foward, in the right direction.

Just got dunlopped by a vehicle, caught in the open with nowhere to go thought yep I'm fucked so poured a AK clip at the driver before he got me....0 hits ugh
Hahaha I had something similar, squad of 4 in 4 separate cars for the lols and then we managed to create a pile up and flipped 2 of the cars haha
2 gig patch.. sweet done.. play few rounds.. 'network lag detected'.. 'please exit game and update' 1.5 gig patch argh.. 5mbit dsl sux.. I think they fixed the AA being blurry as which is good.. my mate still crashed so no improvement there.. I am not seeing the gains in this new map that others are but it is smoother, I have a feeling its put more load onto CPU's and my lacking per-core perf 3960x isnt cutting it. My mate with 6700k @ 4.8ghz was getting 40fps more then me in same spot both with 1080ti.. might be time to grab a 8700k!
