And is Aussie made, that's gotta be a plus
Seems the SNES classic runs ridge racer better than the PS classic
hmm, pretty sure all these Pi/other rubbish cores run all these game with a crapola load of frame skips. Kinda sad really. For an extra 5-er to have had a cpu with enough grunt to properly run these games would have been something I would have payed an extra 15 bucks for easily... sadly.. not the case..
I don't know much about the whole Retro/emu thing.. but I know know enough that I know that I FUCKING HATE frameskips...
While the above video shows the snes running the retroarch pcsx-rearmed core the psc is running the out of box standalone pcsx-rearmed that it ships with.
If you run the retroarch core on the psc instead of the standalone it would probably run the same as the snes mini.
It's a little bit objective to compare a hacked snes mini to a stock psc.
Bleemsync 4.01 is out...
you mean 0.4.1?
Apparently 1.0 is scheduled to be released sometime in the next week - this is going to be the game changer (pun? )
I think they have scheduled 1.1 to include OTG support to allow USB storage at the rear port freeing up the second controller port later as well.
Maybe another price drop will make it worth buying just to have one
Given how well Bleemsync works, and what the newer versions bring to the table. Its currently priced fine in all honesty..
It's actually TOO cheap, and that's where the initial problem lies. I would have rather fished out 200 bucks for a frame perfect reproduction, but alas this is not so. What we have now is a el cheapo piece of shit.
back up to $149 at EB (boxing day had to end eventually right? )
JB still has them for $89
possibly more anticipation than the product launch
8 more hours!
It'll be time to open the PS classic
I picked one up from JB Hifi on sunday for $89 after a gumtree seller for $60 fell through.
Figure I might need warranty if I go bricking it. Not that the one on gumtree wasn't in warranty but JB register the purchase against a phone number so they might not have helped me anyway.
I've been playing with retroarch on it so far using retroboot. Retroboot boots the system straight to retroarch off the USB so if you are happy to use retroarch and don't care about the original interface this is already a good solution.
The retroarch core as expected performs much better than the standalone, it's a shame Sony couldn't/didn't use the retroarch core instead of the standalone. If that was the case the only thing people could really complain about is the game selection.
These are coming way down in price in the US. Not sure if it's official or GameStop (same company as our EB Games) dumping stock.
Yeah, have seen posts/videos stating they got a similar 40% drop that AU did and that they've gone even further like 60-65% in some instances.
Removed current limit on second USB port, supports USB 3 drives now, average solder job but not too bad considering I've got bad eyes and polished off a tallie before doing the mod
success! (this drive previously wouldn't detect and the system would boot to stock UI)
Wallmart in the US have a few stores selling PS Classic for $60 with a $25 gift card included, so about $35...
Id expect the prices to continue to fall, looks a lot like the arcade 1up situation
It's good to see retro gaming getting attention but i'm not sure i'm a fan of this trend of releasing something as cheaply made as possible then dumping all the stock so quickly. Would really suck to of gotten one day 1.
I saw the classics for 89 today @ EB
I'm certain this will be written off as a commercial failure for "market reasons", and not because they screwed up the design and implementation.
It amazes me how far out of touch some executives are with their market. If they got over their arrogance for a minute and took in some consumer feedback, they'd be printing money by now.
