So I was thinking about places I have been and experienced, so if you have nothing to do and can't sleep, how about some pointless holiday trivia? Answer the following questions in a similar format to that used in the job/education thread over in the Education forum. Note: transiting trough an airport doesn't count as visiting a country. So the shortest time spent in a country doesn't count if you didn't officially enter the country. Number of countries visited: 48 (had to manually add these up) Shortest time spent in a country: ~2 hours (transit), ~6 hours actually entering the country, even done day trips to Australia (6am arrival, 5pm departure) Highest land elevation you have been to: hmm, not quite sure, I'm guessing Mt Fuji but I didn't reach the top (too much "fog" so my mate decided to turn back even though we were probably about 20 metres from being above the "fog" which were actually clouds). Given we were in the clouds, about 2000m. Lowest land elevation you have been to: Not sure either, probably only slightly below sea level. Highest temperature you have experienced: probably a 40 something degree Melbourne day Lowest temperature you have experienced: probably been to colder but a few ~-5 degree nights in northern Europe. I'm sure time spent in the snow or up mountains is colder but never took any measurements.

Highest temperature you have experienced: 49 degrees C, Thylungra Station, Queensland. Lowest temperature you have experienced: According to the big ass temperature sign in the carpark (so take it with a grain of salt), -11 degrees C, Mt. Hotham, Victoria.
Why not Number of countries visited: 14 Shortest time spent in a country: About 20 mins, driving through Austria on the way from Switzerland to Germany around the south of Lake Constance. Highest land elevation you have been to: Probably the same as Zee (3353m at Snowbird ski field, outside Salt Lake City, Utah) Lowest land elevation you have been to: ~-1500m (underground mine) Highest temperature you have experienced: 47.5C, working on the blast crew, Paraburdoo, Pilbara, WA. Lowest temperature you have experienced: Unsure, but around -10C in the UK in December 2010, when there was a particularly cold winter snap.

Wow, that's cold. Were you there to see the northern lights? When I was there in -32, the cold would ice up your eye lashes within a few seconds of being outside.
Assuming this is a lifetime thing... Lowest land elevation you have been to: -2m Netherlands Highest temperature you have experienced: Over 40 Lowest temperature you have experienced: -10 inside Arctic circle Not sure about temperature extremes - these are approximate In Hong Kong I had a bottle, bought in Zurich, which wouldn't pass security during the transit in Hong Kong. So, I had to go to the airline desk and put it as checked luggage. To get to the airline desk in departures I had to fill in an immigration form, exit the terminal, walk round to departures, hand over the bottle and re-enter.

Highest land elevation you have been to: Jindabyne, but soon to be Mammoth Mountain (2402m) Lowest land elevation you have been to: Lake Eyre (apparently -16m). Have been down a mine -25m or so, but not sure if that counts? Highest temperature you have experienced: over 48c in White Cliffs Lowest temperature you have experienced: Probably -5 or so (plus wind chill) in the snowy's or around Canberra. Have experienced -4 in Tassie too. About to add +1 (possibly +2) countries on our impending trip to the USA (might duck over the border at San Diego to add the other +1).
