I switched over to my old phone (galaxy s4) and only had 1 problem compared to many with my LG g4. Issue I had with my samsung was no pokemon were being found and none of the pokestops would show images or give items. Annoying because you can't tell there is a problem without seeing a pokestop.

Frustrating because I bought the g4 in prep for this game :/

I held two gyms for about 7hrs but unfortunately both got kicked out just before my defender bonus timer ran out. However, I've since upgraded both my strongest pokemon so will go find somewhere else :D

You can fight them to raise the points of the gym to raise its level. So a level 3 gym can have 3 pokemon defend it, level 4 will have 4 etc.

As for the speed thing, yeah riding your bike won't count as you'll move way too quick (I have this same issue).

To add to that, my sister upgraded a 413 Evee and it went to 1070 Flareon. I have the exact same evee so we'll see if it's fixed when I manage to get more candies. Evees are scarce here :(

Thanks for the data guys. Would also be a big help if you could include your trainer lvl too pls.:D

The result is pretty good. The power ups are fairly consistent.

    Eevee > XXXeon = ~255%
    Pidgey > Pidgeotto = ~190%
    Rattata > Raticate = ~260%
    Weedle > Kakuna = ~105%
    Zubat > Golbat = ~ 317%

Halfway through 15, unfortunately couldn't upgrade my snorlax anymore due to my level. Apparently the CP cap is 10,000...

I don't know that it's entirely calculated by speed since I had an egg hatch while I was on a bus. I believe it just requires distance (GPS) and steps (Accelerometer) to be relatively comparable.

I saw a Wartortle on my nearby list and started to zero in to where it was.
When I started to walk in the correct direction it moved up the list then when it got to two footprints it stayed at that.
I was convinced it was walking away from me and so I started jogging after it. 20 minutes later and it just up and disappeared off my list!

I pretty much don't exercise but in the past week the app has logged 32kms. I'm sitting on 45km total. For someone like myself who is pretty damn lazy when it comes to exercise, I'm pretty damn happy. I'm actually enjoying going on my walks whenever I get the chance.

Thank you. By the looks of things trainer lvl does not matter when evolving Pokemons. But it does matter for the max CP of the pokemon. Also did a quick test this morning. It's better to power them up after you evolve them it seems. At least on the Eevee I tested on appears that way. Pre evolve 1 power up got around 16 CP. Post evolve gets around 25.

Would love 2nd lvl evolution data. Only have 3 so far but they look uniformed. Have 2x pidgey and 1 weedle. CP increase from base creature is around ~330-350% at 2nd evolution. Typical 1 evolution pokemons CP increase is between 250-310%. Highest 1 evolution pokemon so far looks like Zubats at ~300-320%. Most of the 1 evo ones are around ~250-280%

Seems to be the general concensus from my research. Evolve first, then power up. The other bonus, is that after evolving the abilities will change, And if you don't like the new abilities you don't have to waste candy and stardust to power it up.
