I don't actually remember there been a portal 2 thread already, just the E3 thread and the HL3/EP3 thread.

But anyway, certainly looking forward to this game. I have played portal through many a times, and the new additions (the speedy paint stuff) looks pretty fun.

Hopefully they keep up the same kind of humor there was in the first. If anyone has seen the Zero Punctuation review on it, its spot on with what i thought of the game.

No it doesnt, you should use the existing thread, this has also been posted in the E3 thread.

Other sequels get their own threads?

The E3 thread is about E3.

Maybe, but it is definitely better.

Yeah looks like the regular Source engine with some blobs of paint & a few extra shadows.

Gameplay looks like prey, not sure if thats good or bad yet.

You need your eyes tested or pick the HQ movie. It's obviously not the same engine. Fidelity, textures, model detail, foliage...everything looks better

    Did you not play Portal?

Well, to be fair it can be tricky to make a scientific judgment based on a low resolution video, but it certainly looks improved. The shadows are an obvious big step forward, the fidelity can't be properly judged until we're playing it at full resolution, but it's fair to assume that it will be better simply by historical correlation.

It's quite amazing what they've done to Quake 1.

The top link is a high-res vid. The embedded doesn't do it justice.

Looks at the lighting as the companion cube bounces around, the water effects, texture detail on the panels with multiple maps, hugely improved particle effects.

However, I don't like the pommie vo :(

Holy Crap... it looks a lot harder than the original. A lot of trial and error will be in order i guess.

If they make a level with all those new elements, I'd expect it to be impossibly hard. :Paranoid:

It looks really nice though, more atmospheric than the last one. GLaDoS's voice also sounds more scary than Portal 1 and adds to the atmosphere.

I'm trying to work out how you could place a portal while exiting one without a mouse. Probably has some sort of auto-aim for ps3.

Looks awesome, and also a lot harder than the original. Although I guess that's hard to judge from what little gameplay we have seen thus far.
Anyhoo, I will be buying this

They specifically said the story mode will only be slightly harder, but the challenge maps will be a whole different story.
