It occured to me the other day that I haven't really touched anything retro since I bought covers for all my stuff ~8 months ago - I just can't be arsed taking them off and putting them on again. So fuck it - let it all get dusty and yellowed, I'm not running a museum here!

Remember when I said "just throw a sheet over it"? Now you know why. :)

What's the significance of the motherboard and soundcard in the frame? Neat idea I've thought of doing the same myself.

Both were dead and a VLB motherboard and Creative ISA sound card are where it's at for me RE happy retro memories, so I thought it would be nice to see them for once instead of tucking them away in a case (or in this case the recyclers). I just did it on the cheap and screwed them onto the front of a cheap frame - they're not behind perspex or anything :)

    New overview shot with the dual 16:9 tubes. Hanging for some 2 player xbox action now. Capitalised on the Technics having multiple inputs and split the audio out from each TV so as follows;

"DVD" input - left TV lineout
"VCR" input - right TV lineout
"6CH Direct" input - front/rear left speakers = left TV, front/rear right speakers = right TV.
I might move the rear speakers to the front so the stereo positioning isn't messed up when doing 2 player but just having this flexibility in such a great sounding stereo is an unforeseen win.

I also set up a display for some games and peripherals for the room. Theres 2 empty shelves because I have two more lego cars that aren't built yet. I'm a man child and I just don't care. The display shelf already has the old 4:3 CRT sitting in front of it waiting for me to make a capacitor shopping list. Since I already got another working tube I have lost motivation on that one.

If you have CRTs, untap the storage space potential above them!
Tax return might be lounge shopping time.

I've been messing around with an old - naugties? - desk I bought because why the hell not. It's cheaply made but in great condition at least, and has a built in CD rack which rocked my world.

    Before:

    IMG_5864.JPG

Added some reinforcement to handle a CRT long term:

    P1060111.JPG

New plastic edging and there's that sweet sweet rack. Now that I've filled it I realise that you can't easily get a CD out again without pushing the rest back and having to mess around straightening them all - cheap and nasty.

    P1060118.JPG

I flipped the desktop and keyboard tray over to expose their nice, clean, unused sides. And the laminate edging on the keyboard tray was pretty rank so I reversed the whole thing and used some iron on edging on what was the back edge - came up surprisingly well:

    P1060120.JPG

Ready for action! The ergonomics are actually pretty good - the monitor's at a good height and the keyboard tray sits nice and low which I like. There's also lots of room for everything which can be a challenge with a CRT in the mix. The only thing left to do is replace the keyboard tray rails - they work as intended but are cheap like everything else, so I'm sure I can do better.

Reminds me how desks used to predominantly be designed with specific shelf area/space to accommodate ATX towers. I just micro-stalgia'd over desk design

    *huge frikking mess atm*
Decided to redo the nerd room. Mostly to have a permanent station for retro consoles/computers.. the old position of the crt TV meant it just never got used :(

I also added an extra shelf..

And moved the 3 kids stations next to each other,so I get the big desk for myself and my crap.

    IMG_20210913_073735.jpg

Huge mess, but like I told the minister of war and finance, can't clean up without making a mess.

Here a shot of the new position for
    the retro station.

    IMG_20210913_073752.jpg

Better get on with it, I've got today to finalize the nerd room and clean up.

Totally forgot about this thread! Seems a lot of my ocau emails have been going to the spam folder so I don't get notification emails

A significant change since my covid 19 bunker post back in March 2020 lol...

I ended up getting a second Noir and restored two blast cities in the last year.. One blast city has been let go - in hindsight, I probably should've just kept it as I've made room for that one last candy :lol::lol: (famous last words haha) - whatever that may be

Thanks man! That's really what im going for. That's all I've ever wanted. Would love a daytona twin, but the prices of those are ridiculous and unobtainable for me at present.

    Thanks man :)

I feel like you're on of the guys that's seen the development of this setup with my work logs haha.

I'm sure you can tell, I'm a fighters guy with 3 sets linked up, yeah I essentially lose 3 cabs, but 1p cabs are the best once you play on them haha.

The astros were linked up using a custom link harness I made up

It essentially piggy backs the rgb signal on the master and P2 signal of the jamma edge on the master as p1 on the slave cab (it makes sense in my head and it works haha)

Linked cabs are popular with the kids :)
