Yeah, it doesn't really try to do anything new or excel at any particular thing. It feels like it's a theme park of horror more than anything tbh. But it is fun and I am planning to go back and play it again at a higher difficulty once some performance patches are out (and probably again when DLC launches). Which I can't say about too many games.

The south is pretty fire and brimstone so far.

Been playing a bit of Tropico 6 lately. Here's my thriving colonial era township. >$300k in the treasury and still going up!

I was playing Tropico 6 recently and I always reach a point where I start losing money, because I don't have the work force, and then people stop pro creating because they're unhappy, and the whole system breaks down. I feel like I never had that problem with Tropico 5. I still love playing though

It's definitely balanced differently to T5. Breaking even is hard enough, but making good money is a real challenge. Somehow I managed to get the balance just right this time. A cluster of newspaper farms certainly helped!

Back to They Are Billions, after a two and a half year absence. Really enjoying the campaign (looks like they've tidied up most of the issues people had with it on release).

Facing the hordes down a choke point in one of the hero levels.

Heart stopping action in one of the swarm levels.

My soldiers sacrificed themselves gallantly to save the hour.

    A grim tide approaches.

It breaks impotently against my staunch defenses. Ballistas with overlapping fields of fire are devastating against lower level zombies, especially in large groups thanks to the ballista bolt's penetration of multiple targets.

That game looks ace! I've been having a few runs of Risk Of Rain 2 lately, bit of stress relief with lots of chaos going on IRL - tonight I managed to ally with the ghost of an alien I just killed. A very, huge, alien.

The campaign difficulty ramps up quickly. Today I made my sixth attempt at a level which is only rated at difficulty two. I came very close this time, but was still crushed by the endless hordes.

Ready to receive the tide, feeling confident.

    20210527142254_1.jpg

They approach, and I start mowing them down.

    20210527142313_1.jpg

A few short game hours later, and they're grinding their way through my defenses. I'm still confident.

    20210527142417_1.jpg

Not long after, and they're making steady progress. I'm growing concerned, since there are obviously still many more to come.

    20210527142446_1.jpg

Not long after, I am grimly clearing buildings and erecting last ditch defenses, as the tide of zombies seems endless.

    20210527142656_1.jpg

Finally the stream of zombies has ceased, and the horde has thinned. But can I still hold out?

    20210527142736_1.jpg

I have thrown everything I could at them, but now they've broken through and they're attacking the citadel. A bitter two day battle ends in defeat. So close. Wish I had been able to invest in shock towers.

Back into Doom Eternal such fun, so many brink of death epic escapes that leave me gobsmacked.

Finished ME1 - Playing these at their release dates makes you kinda forget just how big the leap between games was.

Picked up Rogue Legacy 2 (Early access) a while back to give myself something that was easy to pick up and put down again when I wanted a quick break from assignments. Apparently time adds up rather quickly though, even in short bursts, and I've lost ~20 hours to it already. :p

Loving the art style, They really pull off the 2D look well, and in game you'd be hard pressed to notice they are actually 3D models 95% of the time. Upside is it now scales well with resolutions/refresh rates and unlike the original game that's kinda broken at anything other than 1080p, this should hopefully last well into the future.

Necromunda: Hired Gun, hella janky and plagued with technical issues but the most fun I've had in a fps in a long time

The game is also a testament to great level design as well as environment design. I'd take less fidelity in my graphics over more interestingly designed levels and environments every day of the week.

Ill take games that are actually worthy of 1.0 not early access disguised as such..

The bugs are at an unacceptable level. Shame on Focus Home Interactive, shame!

I mean im glad your enjoying it, but imagine if it wasnt plagued with issues you would be enjoying it alot more. If possible, wait for some fixes to maximise your fun factor.

    Levels do look cool though.
