Foxtel in general is more expensive for subscribers than the online only option. I guess the catch is you can't record with Foxtel Now.

True..... but I already have to pay for the base "entertainment pack" that i don't want with foxtel in order to get my other packs, and I get slugged for HD as well.

Just seems bizarre to offer it cheaper on Foxtel Now considering I'm already paying a hefty amount for Foxtel cable.

"On 5 June 2017, BoxSets, 13th Street, Binge, Syfy, Discovery Science, Animal Planet, Lifestyle You, Style, World Movies, CNN, Smooth, BBC World News, CNBC, Max, CMC, Eurosport News, Foxtel Arts, MTV Music and MTV Dance became no longer available on Foxtel Now."

EDIT: I just called foxtel and their call centre is in South Africa!?! since when!

Call centres for various major organisations are everywhere, South Africa is one place I've heard of, yes.

I can imagine it's a pretty cutthroat industry with the call centers so can probably change at a moments notice. I think I've had SA before.

No wonder a bunch of on demand/anytime shows are no longer available - Binge/Boxsets being gone is fucked.

One of my clients is a lawyer for Fox, said person told me about this a few months back, then proceeded to tell me to keep my mouth shut. Nice to know some info is out there, now...

Oddly, she called it a "hockey puck thing" at the time...

The current Telstra TV is a rebadged Roku 2. This one looks quite different (although the guts could be the same)

Also, it (i.e. the Foxtel unit) is way too tall to be likened to a hockey puck :)

Have to say, the HD streaming and updated interface on the PS4 is fantastic.

My Yamaha remote now actually controls the app too. Impressed.

So Foxtel Now melted down and they don't even stream HBO stuff in HD... lol.

The product certainly isn't ready for prime time yet. Even Fox Sports channels buffer when they are over subscribed by viewers. It goes to show that Aussies are willing to pay if you get the product right. Unfortunately it's not quite there yet and it seems Foxtel are maybe holding back a little to look after their premium satellite market. Satellite is certainly on borrowed time and it will only be a matter of a few years before people drop it in favour of Al-la carte online streaming.
