Too hard to work out the overall cost
Telstra Basic Home line rental (sucks, staff dont even get discounted line rental, only calls made)

1st 12months half price etc, + %20 staff discount and then salary sacrificed (can salary sacrifice upto $1000 of Telstra bills a year)

Another plus is that because I work in an area related to bigpond within Telstra (not a call centre), I dont need to use any call centre for support, i can either fix my own fault or get someone at work to do it).

Also if I get shaped, I can use my gf's adsl1 account (that is also under my name) as she may use 1 or 2gb a month out of 12gb.

Previously I was on the Optus 20/40 plan, but had to recently move and the apartment has no Optus HFC installed, so just went with BigPond for the above reasons.

    iinet Naked DSL
    $90 / month
    30/60gb (uploads counted sadly)
    ADSL2+

Free national and local calls on voip
Free data via PIPE service, iinet game servers and other iinet users.
peak/offpeak are capped seperately, and off peak is 2am-12pm.

Using a Dynalink 1046VW, VOIP calls are perfect, and mobiles are 30c per minute, charged by the second, no flagfall.

No line rental or call costs is awesome so far :D

    20+40 @ ADSL2+ (for me, that's about 7Mbps) = $69.95 and I still have my old free voip service :D

Have it bundled with landline, which I don't use or pay for.

    Adam Internet AdamDirect ADSL2+.

I seem to survive just fine on the 5GB $39.95 a month plan.

5GB external, 5GB pipe/local, 5GB uploads and unlimited unmetred data from CommunityNet. Gotta lova CommunityNet, being allowed to share data with anyone else on your exchange without it getting counted to cap is awesome :leet:

    Couldn't be happier

EDIT: Oh, and how could I have forgotten the included 10GB a month newsgroup access (even though it's counted to external it's still great).

    Hey Dadelaide
I'm hoping these is a good place to ask.

My dad is interested in getting broadband. Are there any good value line rental/local calls/broadband bundles available? He doesn't download songs or TV episodes etc, but would probably look around on Youtube. A download limit of 2GB will probably suffice.

Edit: He's in the metro area, but isn't in a 3G coverage area, so wireless broadband isn't an option atm.

IIRC its $90 per month,, never actually see a dang bill,, hardly use the ISP email and I get DD payments quarterly..

And what if he uses the landline phone?

As tempting as it may be to dump Telstra (almost) completely, it isn't always possible
