I'm running it at 2560 X 1080 with a GTX 980 (roughly equivalent to a GTX 1060) and I've got everything set to high with the occasional thing set to medium. Seems to run at a steady 60fps. That said, I haven't tweaked anything to find out if I can turn some settings up and some down to medium as it looks awesome still and having a steady 60fps is more important to me than it looking beautiful.

I think you'd need a 1070 or above to get it running at high or above settings.

Thats a huge res and no surprise you're only getting 7fps. Haha

The cpu is more than capable. Replace your carda and you'll get much better performance.

I used to run 6970 single card in my lounge HTPC on an i52400, Project CARS running default settings at 1080p worked fine.

Maybe disable your 2x side screens and fire it up, xfire 6970's should be fine for single screen 1440p default settings

For some reason I read your resolution as 2560 X 1440. That said, you could go with a nice cheap option of 3 GTX Titans!

Seriously though, it's your cards holding you back.

Another option is to run each monitor and a lower resolution but still keeping the same aspect ratio. You lose a little of the crispness, but will gain frames. Try it at 1920 X 1080 per screen. It's still a lot of pixels getting pushed around though.

    Close enough for gov.au - 2560 x 1440 per monitor

I'll try the lower res with the current cards and look into a 1060 OC something.

EDIT: Actually I was right, they are HD6970's

Some of you guys with wheels + sim setups may be able to help me out..

I have a G27 set up on what is a admittedly a bit of a hackjob sim setup with proper seat + homemade handbrake (that actually works quite well), and love playing PCars, Assetto Corsa etc, however I rarely use the setup for the simple fact that using it requires moving monitors + PC off my desk which is a monumental annoyance every time.

Do you guys use a separate PC + display(s), or perhaps a very long DP/HDMI cable? I currently have 2x 27" 1440p displays and am tossing up whether I get a 3rd, or maybe a standalone mid-sized TV instead?

I've bought a separate 31.5" LCD and going to mount it on a platform.

So from my PC there will be a long HDMI cable I just run into the monitor, a custom box I'll build for USB / audio connections, and hey presto I'm off racing.

The quicker it can be built/disassembled, the more likely I am to use it.

I have my hackjob sim, that sounds very much like yours, sitting behind my desk. I then have my 29" ultra widescreen monitor on a monitor arm that I can swing around to sit right in front of my steering wheel for some sim action, and then back around to the front of my desk when doing anything else.

I've got my 27" dell for general pc use/photography editing, but bought a 46" plasma sitting on my custom made cockpit with logitech g25, XR6 bucket seat and home made centre console with the g25 shifter built in to it. I bought an IR hdmi extender transmitter via cat 6/cat6a/cat7 lan ethernet adapter. Have it running through my a/v receiver in the back room of my house (maybe 10m away from the pc). Must say this setup has transformed my pc driving experience. So much more immersive and enjoyable. If you can be bothered setting one up, definitely think you'd enjoy it.

    Huh?

Also I was reading on the Project Cars reddit that the devs have dropped any time for fixing bugs and have moved onto PC2. Is that right? With the steam sales coming up I assume this will be cheap and I need a more arcadey game than AC to play.
