I'll be starting up a new project worklog in the next few weeks so I'm busy gathering tools, supplies & materials. I'm writing my "begging" letters to my sponsors and setting up my new photography light tent. But mostly I'm trolling all my usual places looking for ideas and inspiration. I thought I would share some of the amazing stuff (IMHO) I've come across. These radios were designed and built over 70 years ago during the Great Depression.

Comments, ideas and suggestions are always welcome.

Love the Halson there - 2nd pic. Just beautiful design lines, classic, yet almost futuristic in a Blade Runner kind of way.

I'm sitting here drawing up a few ideas and thinking of something very similar to this - just oozes class to me. Deeply polished wood seems to be so counter to the "tech" feel of modding, but it just works on so many levels for me.

I'll be keen to see what you come up with.

The Halson is for sale on ebay at the moment. Check out the guys description on how he did the finish. It's amazing.

Here is another contender I've discovered lately:

The Octogon on pic 8 reminds me of the whole LOST hanso corp theme with the different basses around the island, Id love to make a "The Orchid" type or mod or "The Swan" with an LCD at the front displaying the numbers, thanks for the inspiration.

I've been looking at radios for inspiration as well - here's a few that I like:

Still not quite sure how the inspiration will be used, but I'll work it out eventually.

sure it lacks any original design aspects, is the ugliest piece of kit in the thread and bla bla bla
but i dont think any of the other radios were built to blast ghettos. ;)

oh and that 'PHILCO TRANSITONE' is hot.
