    Project - Smooth-n-Fold Cube Case Mod

    I did this Case Mod last month and have ia Project Log posted @ OCForums and thought you guys here may want to see it too,

    The Project was originally called Smooth-n-Fold but from its configuration point its aptly Fold-n-Smooth and thats what I also put on the hand cut-out custom fan grill with the FnS emblem.

    What I wanted from this case mod was a dual purpose cube case to house my Diskless Folding Rig and SmoothWall FireWall all in one convenient fully accessible Cube by means of a piano hinged middle so it could be opened out to access both areas, hench the folding cube

    The whole Project can be viewed here http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=567154

    Jolly-Swagman, those two cases together are INSANELY COOL!

    Personally I wouldnt mind a setup like that so I can run a couple of extra machines for whatever purpose they are intended to serve (e.g. file server and something else).

    Well done dude!

    The Plexi one I hand made and metal one which is temporary for now is from my cutout CM690 side panel when i did the Side window Mod.

    Just waiting to get some 120mm fan filters for this and another fan on Wife's PC
    Also Intel HSF is from my E6550 is copper based but will be replaced with either ACFreezer7pro or Synthe Ninja when finances avail.

    Thanks for all the Feedback everyone

    Sweet mod man, but just wondering, why does the P2/3 down the bottom have 3 nic's in it? And what harddrives does it have?

    Because more than one nic on a pci bus is pointless as the bus is limited to 133MB/s, sooo you wont really do more than 100~ anyway. Plus the fact it's a P2/3 :p:p

    awesome job on the mod, mate. very professional looking. what are you running on the p2 box, ipcop, monowall, pfsense?

    oh and re: folding, yes it's for the good of science and that's first and foremost why we do it... but i'll let you in on a secret. pssst... we also really wanna beat the yanks! (the hardocp [H]orde!)

    come join us in Team OCAU Distributed Computing, join in the folding raffle, wherein you might be building another cube to house a q6600/modern gpu for folding purposes, and help us hunt those seppos down! :)

    edit: oh noes, you're folding for another team already!
    time to defect i think... we'll protect you over here mate

    You dont need anything really powerful all will even run from a 286/486mhz PC

    It has 4 nics b/c its a SoothWall Firewall. Router Appliance
    With Green-Purple-Orange-Red Interfaces
    Red = being the ppoe connection from ADSL Modem
    Green = Network DHCP Server (connected to 5port D-link 10/100switch with 4 PC's attached)
    Purple = Network (can be used for wifi app) I use for folding Diskless Farm
    Orange = DMZ Network (Servers -Wed-File ect)

    WD IDE 20gig HDD ( to be change for 40gig IDE comming from the USA)
    As this one is over 10yrs old and getting rather noisy, few bad sectors.

    Folding rig at top is Diskless only USB 4gig Flash to save WU data
    C2D E6700 @ 3.3Mhz - 2x1gig XMS2 Corsair 6400/800 -4-4-4-12
    DVD/RW Sata Liteon

    Running SmoothWall Express 3 sp1/2 with Mods ifled / ModCommander / FileView /SmoothInfo / Snort AutoRules Updater / DNS Blackhole

    Farm = Diskless C2D /fah.6-smp(notfreds) + Main Rig C2D/fah6-smp ( see sig) + P4 2.8 HT 2 x /fah6.10 + (Wife's) P4 3.2 HT /fah6.10
