Jealous!!! i want a second 6970...
it gets us through life tho
Successfully getting GPU - clocks at 936/1450
staying at 74 degrees, and overall system sound at 55-60 db
i hope to lower that to at least 40-50
Everything is installed
WC my graphics card
Temps from 72-76c down to 48-51c
and CPU temp has gone down by about 2-3c
thats great mate need wc these cards are bloody loud. nearly finished on the V9
any one want to sleeve a CM silent pro gold 1000w? sleeving, heat srink and money provided by me
i don't mind sleeving tho is depends on the PSU. if it's a full modular unit, piece of piss. if the ATX 24pin cable isn't modular (hardwired to unit), makes the job that much harder. if you want it professionally done, it means cracking the unit open (voiding warrantee) to get the sleeve on the individual cable strands without the heatshrink being visible on the trunk (where cable meets PSU casing) of the 24pin cable.
the type of sleeving aside (techflex, mdcp-x etc), need to have at least 3:1 heatshrink especially for the 16/18AWG gauge wires. the tighter shrink means the sleeve is less likely to 'roll-up' on cable strands if too much force is exerted on cable (like some of those sticky 4pin molex plugs getting stuck in some of the connected devices).
having said that, i usually enjoy it providing the PSU in question isn't a bitch to work with.
What is the ETA on them?
After a year and a bit of hibernating the rig is back
and this time things are hopefully going to be a little more organized.
Here is a couple of teasers to get started with,
of to be painted
the aftermath of disassembling
out goes the 6970 in come the 580s
Just got back from Shack Steel Designs Geelong, they were nice enough to sand the surface, as the previous owner from OCAU had left this case in a terrible condition. Not being mean here but some of the cutting and paint work was done terribly. I could have paint it myself but seriously i am quite happy with the outcome for 60 bucks.

Should be getting my power supply next week, other parts are still going to be another 15 days, hopefully i will have this done just before Christmas.
Where did you 6970's go?
Looks good btw
sitting right next to me
my mate has given me some interest for one of them but other than that no one OCAU seems to be interested in 6970s.
Do they have waterblocks on them?
nope unfortunately i never got around to that, and my mate just took one of them. Luckily i got the best one here, its a HIS V2 same one from the photos of the previous page. this baby did 950 on the core at 1.19 V on the stock cooler. Ran that for about a week when BF3 first came out, after that was exams so it sat on stock. If no one buys this in the next couple of weeks i think i might just get a water block and bench it cause it overclocks really well.
powdercoating looks good, its got a speckled finish to it? do you know what its called?
yeah i got it done locally, the guy said its called Mannex Black, Its shop called Shack Steel Designs
Porque no los tos.
Just ordered the stuff,
decided to go 2011 as i needed the extra horsepower, plus LGA 2011's bandwidth
I got the i7 3930K
Rampage 4 Formula
Dominator Platinums 4x4GB 2133MHz C9
whilst the rest remains the same.
Oh completely forgot about this but i did manage to complete the side pannel.
so hold out for some pics soon. Possibly Tuesdays maybe Wednesday the latest Thursday
OK so PC Case Gear have been pretty bad this time for me. As of ordering my stuff everything was in stock but it disappeared on the third day of processing my order. Any way they were help full enough to ship everything they had first and then the liquid Utopia that the "run out off" any way so every thing has been shipped via eParcel express although I am very worried as I was away when my family member made the order for me they didn't know how terrible Australia post can be so fingers crossed. Monday I think it should come.
UPDATE: Lets get going.
So.. the parts finally arrived, and i started test fitting, would write more but I am tried as.
Will update the post tomorrow.
Very cool, love the look of those platinums!
Thanks Saate, I really like they way they look I just wonder how they would look lit up.
Although I nearly had a heart attack installing them the God dam ram slots are reversed on either sides, I wanted the Dominator stamp to all be on the same side.
On a Side note PC Case Gear sent me two EPS 8pin bitfenix white cables and only one 8 pin PCI e despite the package saying its meant to be a PCI e cable.well looks like I will be waiting for that one in the mean time I am planning my tubing and will be fitting the rad.
