exactly. i dont think there is a big difference between the ps3 released of late other than the drive size which you can replace easily without worrying about warranty. just be sure to remove said drive and put back original drive if you ever have to return it to sony for repair.

Actually its recommended you take out the hard drive when you send it in to Sony to repair so you can keep your data. (They send you back refurbished one)

DSE 120GB PS3s for $349. Check their site for stock (doesn't look like any in SA).

Hi guys thought I would post here for help :D

I really want a PS3 but not sure which one I should get.

I am not a heavy gamer, more of a once a week type.

Don't need massive storage or anything, just basic console that can stream movies/etc from home wireless network.

What console do you recommend and where do you think the best place is to get it from?

Which console as in the 160/250GB models or PS3 v. X360?

If the first, then the smaller HDD/cheaper model, as upgrading yourself is a lot cheaper and supported by Sony.

    If the later, then /shrugs.

not if your data is on a bigger drive which you replaced the original with. so they will send another 40GB drive (or whatever default the ps3 came with) if you send sony a ps3 without a drive?

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't. They are a brick and mortar store after all.

I seriously doubt DSE would, they're too high on the tight arse tree, I'll believe it when I see a receipt.

Not sure any store will price match that super toys r us deal anymore.

But yeah - the 350 deal is alright. I got my ps3 for 240 price matched, as said above. Though i'm sure they're worth 100 more than I paid at least... depends what you want a ps3 for.
