For some strange reason I never considered that the PS5's Bluetooth wouldn't support my BT earbuds. For an even stranger reason, Sony decided to make their BT weirdly narrow and fussy.

So what's my solution here? Internet searches tell me to use a USB BT stick but so far that's been a bust. There seems to be some kind of compatibility window I need to climb through to find one that actually works.

For the record, I need this for AirPods but from what I've been able to determine so far, this is a pretty universal issue. I would've at least thought Sony would exploit this for profit by making their own device but they seem to have also overlooked that.

BT headset connections are specifically disabled, you can try some aftermarket BT adapter solution as you mentioned but also consider pairing the headphones to your TV rather than PS5 directly.

I can't pair to my TV. It's both too old and I'm also not using it for the PS5. I'm using a monitor but even that seems to have weird requirements around BT/USB connections, hence why I was asking here as it doesn't seem to be a simple solution.

I picked up a cheap Bluetooth adaptor for about $28 that does bluetooth input to 3.5mm output, and vice versa, 3.5mm input to Bluetooth output.

It works well and has solved similar problems for me

So it would work in a monitor? If so, brand? Model number? Even just a name of what the device actually is? Like a BlueyToothy Jackie?
