    hi all,

today i did a couple of firsts, my first visit to lakeside and my first day shooting with my new 1d3, all i can say is wow on both counts

i am so glad the QR crew took over lakeside such and awesome track would have been such a massive shame if it was last forever

as for the 1d3, i cannot say enough about it, the images are clearer and crisper than i could ever get with the 350 and 30D, it still needs a bit of tweaking to get it perfect.

now for the shots, i didn't know where to stop lol so i have included 10 of the best.

    1) 2 laps into the session and old mate loses it coming over the hump

    9) Teamwork, who says bump drafting is for the ovals

    10) Scenic

    11) ok so i lied about only having 10

Some nice shots you have there, number 5 would be fantastic if the shutter speed were a little faster, 1/8th is probably a little slow and very difficult to obtain sharp results with. For panning I would suggest 1/30th - 1/40th, possibly a little slower if you have a very steady hand/monopod. Only other criticism I have is to take care when framing shots, cutting the front or back of car from the shot isn't very aesthetic, 4, 11 and 12 for example. Definately helps to sus out the best spots trackside, keeping in mind the focal range you are working with. Overall nice work :)

Me too. They have done a heap of work to that place over the Christmas holiday period, including a full resurfacing of the track, extended run offs, the tunnell under the hill, and what looks to be a shiteload of new timing equipment too.

Great to see, I hope they continue it on too. Lakeside's got so much more character than Ipswich IMO.

Brilliant pictures too :) I'm pretty peeved I couldn't get to this, I like to get along to these events when I can.

Anyone feel like organising a meet there ???

I'd love to come give it a go, but would prefer to go with fellow ocau'ers... Makes for a good social meet too.

    :)

dr1fty i'd be keen to meetup, but i have a shoot on this weekend, so not sure when i would make it at this stage. Holdens and Transams this week so should be plenty of aggressive racing...
