    Hi all,

recently purchased DTS from windows 10 store. I have one quick question - while I am using headphones should I select Ultra or Headphones:X for spatial sound?

Through the app there is no information and I am not finding much online either. I remember a time when Ultra wasn't an option at all.

This plugs into a Schiit Stack with Sony MDR-Z7M2

    Cheers in advance.

I think the DTS:X Ultra is for decoding DTS encoded movies and putting it through your headphones where as the DTS Headphone:X is for doing simulated surround from non DTS sources?

DTS:X Ultra is purely so your PC can decode DTS:X audio.

DTS:X Headphones is the one you want that does 3D audio, turning your cans in a surround sound system.

I've always been curious how DTS sounds with a pair of regular/hi-fi stereo cans in FPS games. Thoughts/impressions bondibro? Is it akin to using those gimmicky virtual surround gaming headsets?

I've never used gaming headsets, but with it turned on in "balanced" mode it seems to give more immersive soundscape, I feel like I can identify sound direction more accurately.

This is tested with my Z1Rs and HD800s plugged via zh1es dac
