Hello everyone, I'm currently bouncing back and forth between a 2700x system and a 8700k system on hand, trying to decide on one. I have two questions:

    1. I have a new 8700k plugged into a Gigabyte Z390 Auros Pro WiFi. While using HWiNFO I noticed that there is one core (core 2) that runs about 7° hotter than the rest (which all seem to be about 2° of each other), all of the time, regardless of voltage or speed. Is this with the norm? Does anyone else see this with their chip?

    2. I'm using a Noctua NH-U14S on this chip. If I run all cores at 4.7GHz and run Prime95 small FFT, It'll hit the high 90's and that higher core 2 will hit 100° (The room is 22°C and the case is a Meshify C full of fans. It's cool in there). I'm trying to get a baseline here.. Is this generally what you guys see or this unusual? I know everyone delids and I'm not against it, I just don't want to go forward if this chip is out of the norm, a dud, etc.

    Thanks

I'd first try re-seating the HSF and see how it goes. Prime 95 doesn't push CPU as hard as the Intel Extreme. If you reach 90 with prime Intel will get close to 100.

I’ve already reinstalled the heatsink. I just need the two questions verified. Intel Extreme running harder than Prime95 doesn’t help me at this point.

Here you go.... set my 8086k @4.7 all core + D15, no delid.

    1. 5 degree variance in coolest to hottest core.
    2. 30min prime95 small fft, Highest core temp 67deg, room temp feels like about 22-23 deg.

edit retested ...seems it bugged out on a couple of hyperthreading loads.

Thank you. I'm hitting 80° on my hottest core in that scenario. What voltage was that at?
