well i got my ballisitx on monday and after stuffing around with my cpu overclock, i finally got around to playing with the ram.
    just a few quick screenies

    1260mhz 5-4-4-9 2T 2.4vdimm
    [IMG]

1296mhz 5-5-5-12 2T 2.45vdim (not memtest stable, enough for windows though)

my motherboard's vdimm peaks out at 2.5, so not much can be done
i tried 1322mhz, because of the silly dividers, but was at all stable, not even enough to get into windows.
at a later point, ill try tweaking the timings/volts and play with the dividers to get the best i can
as you can tell, my cpu is limiting my superpi scores a lot, but hey its decided to slowly stuff up, not much i can do until i get a new cpu

these are great sticks and a perfect price

ill give it a go later or tomorrow morning and post back
i might even try to get them a bit more stable

whats test #7 in memtest in reference to, it seems to be the only test that produces errors

just ran some 32m superpi tests
    all at 2.3vdimm

    1209mhz
    [IMG]

    1228mhz
    [IMG]

    1260mhz
    [IMG]

weird frequencies i know, but i couldnt be stuffed playing with the dividers just yet
but, notice the difference in pi time between 1228 and 1260, must be due to the odd divider
ill have more of a play tomorrow morning

yeah, i was kind enough to give my 650i board to a friend to replace his dodgy dfi infinity am2 board, plus it convinced him to move upto a 6320 which is now happily sitting at 3.2ghz
hopefully over the weekend i get to play with my Geil ram in this board

tomorrow ill pull my finger out and get some solid stable tests done, see if i can get 650 stable, or at least stable enough for a 32mb pi

Ordered TWO 2GB kits of Tracer PC2-8500 through PGN today.

I needed another kit for another machine soon, and thought I could pay US$34 for two kits via USPS instead of $31 for one kit. Tracer is actually cheaper than standard Ballistix ATM :)

With a 0.8200 exchange rate, works out to $183/kit before CC charges like forex.

One will go into my current rig, E6600 @ 3.2Ghz. Will replace the 2x 1GB sticks Corsair PC2-6400C4 which are destined for another machine (D945 @ 4Ghz).

One will go into my next box - an E6420. Getting parts together for that now.

its great how these high end sticks are so affordable now, gives us budget overclockers more headroom

Sure is  , some of the prices of high clocking ram was just a joke untill recently :) , I mean expensive ram performs the same as cheap ram at same clocks and mem timings.

Not bad initial results there dembones, i think the sweet spot with this ram will be with 4.4.4 timings ;) , ordered the 8500 Tracers on monday and according to FedEx tracking they should be here some time today :) , pronto service with PGN aswell   , cost $220 delivered all inc.

    Cheers

had more of a play today, tried CAS4 and some other timings
seems i cant boot at CAS4 over 550mhz, but 5-4-4-4 was rather nice too

i ran memtest #5 for three loops to test prior to running superpi
and i just couldnt seem to get 1296 stable today
this motherboard doesnt provide enough vdimm

    im loving this ram
