We don't know how old she was because we found her. Obviously was someone's pet and had escaped but we couldn't find who. She was in really bad shape when we found her and she got back to perfect health. In total we had her for almost 1 year.
The tumour started in Feb. The vet said it was just a fatty deposit, which is apparently common, and to change from seeds to pellets. We did that, and it did nothing for the lump and made her miserable. We took her to an avian vet 2 weeks ago who told us the bad news. At that time we were still hopeful that something could be done, but no :(
She probably could have gone on for longer, but these tumours were bigger than her head and they were bleeding and making it hard for her to move around. Quality of life definitely wasn't there. She stopped singing about a month ago, but was still super affectionate towards us. It wouldn't have been fair to keep her going, as much as it has crushed my family, we know this was for the best.

    Bronte: 15th Sept 2003 - 5th Oct 2019; Just > 16 yrs old.
Siberian Husky x Rhodesian Ridgeback, beautiful family pet dog.
She completed obedience training well whilst young, enjoyed many outdoor adventures, & lived much longer than expected.
    Goodbye, good girl.
