Have shared this with a few people from IRC, CBF repasting every time someone asks so posting it in here. I personally haven't made it in years, but if FreeFrag can cook it, anyone can!

    1 cup sugar
    125g butter
    2 eggs
    1 tsp bi-carb soda
    1 3/4 cups S.R. flour
    1/2 cup milk
    2 mashed bananas
    Pinch of salt

    Cream butter & sugar.
    Add bananas.
Add soda dissolved in milk and beaten eggs.
Mix with sifted flour and salt.
Cook at 180 degrees for 1 hour.

looks good! I'd add some vanilla and a bit more banana, but otherwise looks like a top recipe.

I made this cake (had to ask for the recipe again because I lost it) and it was good  I thought 1 hour would have been too long to cook it in a new fan forced oven but it really does need that long.

Made this tonight. Very nice. In hindsight I should have used brown sugar and 4-5 large bananas instead of 3 (I like it to be more like a dense loaf rather than a cake).

Yeah that was on my list of things to try - when I was working at the Grange Golf Club they had this AWESOME banana bread, which I assume is just a banana cake but denser.

I got up this morning and the cake had shrunk a little which made it even better.

For a more traditional version leave the bananas out to until the skins are brown, yes the inside will be soft and a bit mushy but the flavour is much better.

    Your Mums bed!
Hows this for crazy. Was just in the kitchen and saw that I had two bananas that had gone brown. Better make a banana cake I thinks. Hmmm, No Recipe. Well, lets check OCAU and see if anyone has a Recipe, and BAM, First thread on the list.

You rock OCAU!. Overclocking and Banana Cakes.

Off to make banana cake now :) Thank TheWedgie

    Edit -

Made it up with Walnuts as well, since I've never had a Banana Cake without walnuts. Turned out great!

I like to throw some chopped up dates in and swap the sugar for a little bit of honey. Lately I've also been using that philadelphia cooking cream cheese as a milk substitute and it works pretty well! It's excellent in soups too.

    I can do one simpler!

    3 brown bananas
    50g butter
    half a cup raw sugar
    2 eggs
    3 cups self raising

Mix the sugar and butter in a bowl, mash in the bananas, add the eggs, mix, add 1 up of flour, mix, ad the second, mix, add the 3rd, mix. Stick it in a greased baking tin in the oven on 180c
