know a Game with a deep story line & epic finale?

I'm talking about the Epic/Deep experience that wrecks your sleep patterns, leaves you daydreaming, That left you genuinely
sad when it was over, just like the end of a good book...

Sometimes you just feel like losing yourself in a bit of a fantasy. This is one of those times for me. Problem is... Don't know many.

An example that I could think of would be Mass Effect 2, although it was a little on the shallow side in some ways, But what it did very well was make you care about those characters, and care about the outcome of
    your mission.

By having you spend time with the characters, putting a bit of creative effort into them, it made me like & value them. For example,
everybody likes Thane, right? Anyway... After so many hours, it all comes down to the beautiful finale where you end up against
impossible odds, and it's looking pretty bleak. But your friend's pull together for you and you make it through.

Lets make no mention of the number 3. The number 3 does not exist in this topic!! Yeah. Mass effect 2 left me in euphoria for at least 24
hours afterwards. That was a great story. The ending made it.

So.. I'm after a similar kind of experience along those lines. I'm not opposed to going down the JRPG avenue either; because
they tend to follow the formula consisting of:

'Myth & legends, character development, hot girls, friendship, big boss fight, save the world.'

However, it has to be said, I'd approach them with caution, because a lot of them are a bit over the top, and that can kill things.
Metal gear solid was cool, but not deep, and certainly not something that particularly moved me (IMHO)

So have you had a really good experience with a particular story? Maybe You find yourself wishing for more of it so you can
get back into that world? Maybe you wish that you could actually meet some of the characters? What would you recommend?

(On the JRPG stuff.. i only have a Pc & A PSvita the latter which i know nothing about, I bought in america and brought to australia..
not sure if i'm going to regret that lol :Paranoid:)

The walking dead, man fuck that ending.
The whole game, is a great story line.

Also spec ops the line, there is a mission in that which will fuck your head in and then some!

Knights of the old republic 2, the story in that is massive.

Also, the guild 2 you have to make your own story but god dam when people die you feel it.

The first Mafia game. Still have it installed.

The various Wing Commander games, especially the second series.

I loved the ME games, so I know how you feel :)

If you have a PS3, try The Last of Us - you'll love the story.

Also currently loving Assassin's Creed IV, if you haven't played any of them, 1 and 2 are great (2 and Revelations are my favourite)

Dragon Age is also super, if you want to play 1 AND 2, play 2 first.

I found Half-life 2 deeply immersive. Especially playing late at night with no lights on.

The Witcher, then The Witcher 2 and then wait for The Witcher 3. Awesome story, gameplay, graphics and you get naked chicks to boot! Lots of naked chicks.

This guy knows where it's at. Amazing game and story.

Another great game was thief 2. Really immersive and the gradual descent into darkness was incredible.

Both games might be a bit dates now though unfortunately

I haven't found anything close to what the story in Mass Effect as a series brought to the table.

The closest HAS to be TWD from Telltale, brilliant writing, pacing etc. I'll be honest too if you missed Season 1 presented in episodic format, you really are missing out - the anticipation of what the next episode would bring was right up there with why it was so good.
