Was looking at the QNAP TS-420U ($699) with 4 x Hitachi 4TB 7200rpm NAS AP disks, but I don't think you can get them anymore?

    QNAP FAN

I'm a qnap fan but ensure you go with the pro series as they are alot faster!

What are you requirements for the NAS?
Purely just storage of data/backups, iscsi etc?
Also check it is able to do LACP is always good.

Synology and eonnas make decent units as well.

Just large file backup image off-site replication depository via SMB shares.
Nothing too complicated or superfast IOPS, as long as it's reliable.

How about a Synology RS815 RackStation 4-Bay NAS ($725) instead perhaps?

    NAS

Most enterprise NAS units are pretty quiet.

I have a few RS815 which they do the job well.

Since you dont need anything overlay complicated either qnap or synology would be my bet. Just weigh the costs and future requirements. Which one takes larger drives and if you can rack them together etc.

If you get a synology change your limit to increase the speed:

I asked a synology tech why and he couldnt give me an answer why they rate limit it really.

What depth is your rack? Some of these may struggle to fit it's only a short depth rack.
