    *facepalm*

    A 2d menu can't be compared to a full 3d rendered scene.

    --------------

On another note I dropped a couple things from ultra to high on vulkan and fps average went from 90fps to 106fps

I still can't wait for hardware unboxed video to see what else can be cranked to ultra with near no fps loss and what can be lowered slightly for a big fps gain and minimal fidelity loss.

What a silly thing to say. RDR2 had a staff of thousands. A web store is a fraction as complex, would have a fraction the resources behind it, and would take a fraction of the time to roll out.

We all need to knock off this "greedy developers are just greedy" nonsense. Leave the entitled gamer attitude at the door, and support the people that provide us with what is, in my not very humble opinion, the best story telling devices so far in human history. For the same dollars per hour, show me a better and deeper entertainment experience.

This was posted in 2018 so you could at least add another billion if not more to that total.

GTA V has made around $6 billion since its release in September 2013. This means GTA V has made more money than any book, film, record or video game ever released, and shows no signs of stopping. Keep in mind, it's sold less than Minecraft which has sold 144 million units, though it has raked in more revenue.

Most of that is made from MTX in game. They literary build an ingame CASINO and I can tell you now, Casino's are not build on winners.

So that comment about greedy dev's, you can stick it up your clacker.

Back to dx12 for now as vulkan although higher on average fps is times where it has weird stutter even when fps are high.

For starters, that $6bn vanishes quick when you factor in wages, rent, electricity, licensing, flights, marketing, and everything else needed to make 7000+ people work for 7 years across 5 cities. Go work for a large company making real money on big projects, and you'll see what I mean.

Secondly, throwing money at problems doesn't automatically solve them. Read "The Mythical Man Month". It talks in detail about the short sighted belief of how complex projects can be trivially solved by throwing resources (people, money, etc) at problems.

Thirdly, there's zero surprise in my eyes that the biggest critics of these projects are people who have never developed software in their life, and never worked on large, complex projects in their life. Certainly nothing a fraction of the scale of this game.

Perspective is an amazing educator. Find some.

Dude that means they average a billion dollars a year. Fucking congratulations to them for putting in the hours to create such an engaging and enjoyable game for people to play for over 6 years.

They then support the game and add new content as recently as this year FOR FREE. You are not required to pay anything to access online nor progress through, nothing is really locked behind a pay wall. This is the least greedy a company has been in a while.

They are then funding the development of a new game as amazing as rdr2 with those sales.

What exactly did they do to you to make you hate them so?

I also played it on console and mouse/keyboard hands down over a controller in riding and gunplay.

I too have this issue, just cant get the game to launch. I've tried everything recommended short of updating the BIOS, its only 2 months old BIOS so I'd hardly think it warrants it.
Guess ill just wait until its patched.

Heads up on how its going for me so far from a PC perspective. My rig is in my sig. No launch issues at all, seems to be running pretty good at 1440p, vulkan on mostly high settings. There is the odd hitch here and there and its not perfect, but overall I'm pretty happy. My Fury has some legs yet! Might need to dial some stuff down, it seems the odd setting has big hits to visual quality (not sure exactly which yet, would love a hardware unboxed guide).

No lag at all in the keyboard and mouse controls which was heavily discussed in the console version (in fact it was discussed A LOT!). Still early days though.

In regards to the start being slow, I am absolutely loving it and soaking it all in. Not sure where everyone else is coming from.

I just wanted the freedom to explore early on. The story is great, but I was just keen to take the shackles off and roam.

    100% impatience on my behalf.

Is the game playable right now? I'm getting some bad vibes from my mates. One of them is even asking for a refund and re-buying when the game is "smoother".

After Fallout 76, if I need to wait, I can wait.

Its absolutely fine IF it launches. Some people cant get it to open.

For me no issues, played few hours and am at the first proper campsite outside valentine. Just had to lower details probably more then I should to maintain 80 fps @ minimum. But even on combo of medium/high and some ultra it looks stunning.

Vulkan has higher FPS but yucky stutters. So Dx12 for Nvidia at least.

This is no way near FO76 garbage, just a large percentage cant get in but im sure that will be fixed soon.

spank36 might also be worth checking if dx12 feels smoother overall, the stutter might also be happening for AMD cards.

Got it working, updated to the latest bios for x570 and problem solved. I had to launcher crash issue.

Running a mixture of ultra/high/medium in 1440p and its running as smooth as silk (Vulkan, 3600x, 5700xt), going to try playing around over the next few days but it already looks beautiful.

Yeah also heard of others fixing with bios updates.

My mates crashing was fixed with a mobo bios update. So odd.

I'm almost in a mindset to remove other games when playing a deep and engaging story driven game. Easily distracted by a cheeky pubg round and or quick run in Valfaris/dead cells atm.

I also forgot I'm 6 hours into borderlands 3 as well... Jesus!

Yes I have gaming ADHD and pubg usually gets in way. I am few hours into a few really good games Inc borderlands 3. Rdr2 will consume me for a while I'd say.

My wallpapers for about a year were HUD-less screenshots from this game.

There's a few locations in the game that are just stunning, especially around sunset.
