Thats great if youre prepared to tie up your net connection with 100-150gb+ downloads, some of us arent...
I mean they're putting in features like game file discovery. RS launcher, steam, and uplay all have some sort of game file discovery function so even if you don't have a fast connection to get the game, you can always ask someone for the game files and copy it to a portable drive.
More the point that for some of us not on unlimited PHAT PIPE connections, 150gb just for one game is a significant chunk of a monthly cap, why pay $80 for that hassle when you should just be able to buy the game on a disc for the same price and not have to worry?
you can, on consoles. demand is what's pushing these away from physical release on PC. PC games are not selling in high enough numbers at retail to warrant their manufacture.
Red Dead on DVD? Yeah, that's how many DVD's? It's 125Gb+ download isn't it from memory? So assuming a 50% compression, it's still at 4.7Gb per DVD approximately 12-13 DVD's. Could be 1-2 BluRay's but not everyone has a BluRay drive either.
It’s not financially viable to do hard copy releases of premium titles these days. Too many discs required and that’s not getting any cheaper, if anything it’s more expensive.
not only that but it's not attractive as the resale market essentially dies when you do this. no resale means more units sold new.
And you'll open the package and there won't even be a DVD in it. Just a card with a code to enter into Steam to download it. Or, there'll be a single DVD that installs a launcher and downloads the rest
The question is "why does your internet have a monthly quota to begin with?" I'm sure there's some reason why you decided to have a plan that has a cap over an unlimited plan.
If they released on bluray the same people complaining about no physical release would probably complain no Blu-ray drive. Require 15 DVD set. Reminds me of games like final fantasy vii PC, being a booklet thing of like 7 CDs lol my PC no longer has an optical drive and I know I’m not alone there. the last physical game I bought (I think fallout 76) literally had a CD case with a cardboard cutout of a cd in it with game code to download
Yep, Fallout 76 would be a cardboard CD and the actual game was made by some IT/web page designers in India
Man the game keeps on crashing every half an hour and sometimes I have to redo entire mission because the game crashed. ERR_GFX_State. Tried all the solutions including deleting sga files from \Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings and then adding -ignorepipelinecache as launch parameter to Steam shortcut, but nup still keeps on crashing. The chances of me finishing this game in Christmas break now seems remote. I am using the Steam version. Specs in my sig.
